The role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic business leader to drive the growth and management of our insurance business within SoFi Protect. As the Director of Insurance, you will oversee the life and property & casualty (P&C) verticals, acting as the General Manager for these segments. Your responsibilities will include managing partnerships, developing long-term strategies in the insurtech arena, and leveraging your expertise in building the next scaled business line within SoFi. Previous experience managing an insurance agency and/or holding insurance licenses is a plus. This role requires strong cross-functional collaboration with marketing, product, and engineering teams.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Content, and Partnerships teams to drive growth, retention, engagement, and revenue in critical verticals.
  • Stay informed about market shifts, competitive threats, market size, and external factors impacting the insurance industry. Report on changes in the broader market context.
  • Work closely with Product Management to create a seamless customer experience, focusing on improving conversion with partners and removing pain points for members.
  • Optimize existing partnerships to enhance monetization strategies and offering capabilities. Develop a roadmap for new partners and offerings to scale SoFi Protect.
  • Set and achieve conversion and P&L targets for high-growth verticals.
  • Develop and execute growth initiatives, balancing long-term strategy with near-term revenue and profitability goals.
  • As a general manager, lead the end-to-end value chain for SoFi Protect's life and P&C insurance verticals, taking ownership of key metrics such as ROAS, Conversion, Revenue, and Traffic.

What you'll need:

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, self-driven environment, with experience in developing and launching new offerings and services.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing growth initiatives, launching new offerings, and services.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in Partnerships, General Management, or Strategy, preferably within a consumer technology company or a leading Insurtech business.
  • Bachelor's degree required. MBA is encouraged.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and achieving P&L targets and implementing programs that support target attainment.
  • Self-driven and proactive with a bias for action. Willingness to take on various tasks, including less glamorous ones.
  • Specific experience in consumer insurance and B2B partnerships is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, with deep understanding of unit economics, underwriting data, consumer trends, and business economics.
  • Good understanding of the insurance industry landscape, key players, top issues, and competition.
