Summary

The Resort, also known as Charleston’s Island Resort, is located just 30 minutes from the charm and grace of historic downtown Charleston; it is the largest resort of its kind in the region, offering accommodations for groups of up to 650 people and the chance for leisure guests to enjoy a Lowcountry getaway. The Director of Information Technology (IT) at a resort manages all aspects of its IT infrastructure and technology-related operations. This includes overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of the resort's hardware, software, networking, and telecommunications systems.

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Director of IT at a resort may include:

1. Managing the IT department: Supervising and training IT staff, delegating tasks, and ensuring the department meets the resort's IT needs.

2. Developing and implementing IT strategies: The Director of IT should develop and implement IT strategies that align with the resort's business goals and objectives.

3. Maintaining the resort's IT infrastructure: The Director of IT ensures technology is reliable, secure, and up-to-date. This includes managing servers, networks, hardware, and software.

4. Implementing and maintaining technology systems: The Director of IT is responsible for implementing and maintaining technology systems such as property management systems, point-of-sale systems, and other hospitality industry-specific software.

5. Managing IT budgets: The Director of IT is responsible for managing the IT budget, including forecasting and planning for future IT expenditures.

6. Ensuring data security and privacy: The Director of IT is responsible for implementing and maintaining data security and privacy policies and procedures to protect sensitive guest and employee information.

7. Managing vendor relationships: The Director of IT is responsible for managing relationships with IT vendors, negotiating contracts and pricing, and ensuring that the resort receives quality IT services and products.

8. Staying current with technology trends: The Director of IT must keep up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in the hospitality industry to ensure the resort stays competitive and provides the best possible guest experience.

Overall, the Director of IT at a resort plays a critical role in ensuring that its technology infrastructure is reliable, efficient, and secure. The ideal candidate should have a degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, as well as several years of experience in IT management, preferably in the hospitality industry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or related technology field
  • 5+ years of experience in an enterprise IT environment. Hotel/Resort Experience Preferred
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible security incident response and technical forensics investigation experience. Hotel/Resort Experience Preferred
  • Ability to quickly evaluate ambiguous situations
  • Keen attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills
  • Proven ability to convey technical concepts in non-technical, business-centric terms
  • Demonstrated expert-level skills in security incident monitoring and response practices
  • Required to be On-Call in case of emergencies
