Job Description

Description

WITF is seeking a Director of Education to provide hands-on leadership to our Education Team. This role includes:

  • Media literacy
  • Work with Marketing and graphic designers to promote projects/events
  • Collaborate with digital services to maintain and update education webpages as needed
  • Career exploration and workforce development
  • Develop outcomes for programs and events that advance the strategic plan
  • Summer camps
  • Managing deliverables on behalf of PDE and other external partners/funders (e.g., securing presenters, setting up virtual meeting rooms, facilitating workshops, working with marketing for promotions and webpages, etc.)
  • Assist SVP and Chief Education Officer to ensure work adheres to organizational processes and procedures while maintaining an iterative design mindset to strengthen and improve processes when possible to increase efficiency and quality
  • Collaborate with many areas of WITF and develops and strengthens partnerships with educational institutions at the local, state, regional, and national levels.

  • Direct professional learning initiatives, including but not limited to
    • Managing deliverables on behalf of PDE and other external partners/funders (e.g., securing presenters, setting up virtual meeting rooms, facilitating workshops, working with marketing for promotions and webpages, etc.)
    • Facilitating, directing, scheduling, and/or presenting webinars, conferences, seminars (virtual and/or in-person)
    • Developing new programs based on audience need and current trends, in coordination with SVP/Chief Education Officer, Sales, and Development
    • Developing workshop materials
    • Maintain budget and statistical data on workshop participants and attendance
  • Maintain current knowledge of PA Core, STEELS, and ECE Standards; pedagogical research; and educational policy
  • Maintain budget and statistical data on workshop participants and attendance
  • Attend events and provide direction (troubleshooting, assisting when short-staffed, managing relationships with sponsors, funders, and partners, etc.)

  • Supervise professional staff (part-time, consultative, and/or full-time), if/when applicable
  • Work with Development and Sales staff to raise money for program

  • Assist SVP and Chief Education Officer with strategic planning, individual program strategies
  • Assist with the planning of standards-aligned instructional designs
  • Afterschool programs
  • Teacher professional learning
  • Order materials and assist with setting up events
  • Developing workshop materials
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Market education and outreach services internally and externally through newsletters, interstitials, online, participation in conferences, outreach events, etc.
  • Facilitating, directing, scheduling, and/or presenting webinars, conferences, seminars (virtual and/or in-person)
  • Provide direction to education staff who coordinate events/lead projects
    • Work with Development and Sales staff to raise money for program
    • Work with Marketing and graphic designers to promote projects/events
    • Assist with the planning of standards-aligned instructional designs
    • Order materials and assist with setting up events
    • Maintain budget and attendance records
    • Develop outcomes for programs and events that advance the strategic plan
    • Attend events and provide direction (troubleshooting, assisting when short-staffed, managing relationships with sponsors, funders, and partners, etc.)
  • Manage all Act 48 requirements as stipulated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in education (Master’s Degree preferred). Minimum 5 years combined professional experience that includes classroom teaching, instructional design and/or curriculum writing, managing large-scale educational programs and projects, directing cross-departmental projects, and supervising professional staff (consultative, part-time, and/or full-time). PA State Driver’s License and transportation required.
