The Director of Construction and Facilities is responsible for directing MOM’s new store and remodel construction projects, budgets, and delivery timelines. This role ensures quality and adherence to design specifications, building codes, and blueprints for all new store openings and construction projects. The Director of Constructions will oversee and manage the Facilities Team and Workshop Team. This position is located in-office 4 days a week (with 1 day remote) at our Central Store Support office (Rockville, MD) with travel to stores as required.


Some Responsibilities Include:

  • Develops budgets, policies and procedures to support MOM’s construction and facilities projects.
  • Monitors store modifications and changes to ensure budget adherence.
  • Setting up contracts, working closely with the CFO to ensure contract language is appropriate.
  • Managing project timelines to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.
  • Ensure the layout/design of MOM’s stores meets requirements.
  • Setting up software for the vendors, monitoring Service Channel, ensure tickets are handled within SLAs.
  • Maintain knowledge of the industry to ensure compliance with projects.
  • Lead, coach and train the Construction, Facilities and Workshop Teams.
  • Select and monitor vendors and contractors to ensure plans are facilitated and managed accurately, timely and effectively through completion.
  • Working closely with leadership on the strategy behind new store openings and communicating construction announcements and timelines as needed.
  • Oversee budget and costs, keeping costs low and saving money whenever possible.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Strong knowledge of grocery operations
  • Previous experience overseeing all aspects of construction project management workflows and taking projects from cradle to grave
  • Advanced experience with Google Suite & Microsoft Office (specifically sheets & slides)
  • Experience in a fast-paced work environment
  • 3+ years’ of supervisory experience
  • Ability to prioritize tasks that change frequently and manage unexpected demands
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Proficiency with Facilities Maintenance Software (ex. Service Channel or relevant CMMS) and Procore, Asana or other relevant construction/project management software
  • Strong understanding of OSHA guidelines and safety protocols
  • Excellent attention to detail, especially with communication (written and verbal) and meeting deadlines
  • General Commercial Lease Knowledge, Facilities Programs and Capital Project Planning
  • Strong project management and customer service skills
  • 5-7 years’ related experience in facilities and/or retail build out
  • Interest in company culture and desire to grow in the field
  • Dependable, follows instructions and takes initiative to solve problems
  • Knowledge of strategic construction partnerships, vendor vetting processes, and vendor onboarding
  • Expertise in construction budgeting and bidding processes
  • Strong understanding of architectural drawings

Preferred Skills:

  • 10 hr OSHA certification
  • Experience with general maintenance methods, operating equipment, and safety precautions related to facilities management
  • Knowledge of Real Estate Life Cycle; knowledgeable in lease parameters and language architectural/constructions site surveys, and early stage site development
  • PMP certification or other relevant project management
