About the Department
The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics competes at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics with the vision to reach Next Level Success for all 18 varsity teams and more than 500 student-athletes. The Bearcats have a proud athletics history, winning eight national championships and 117 conference titles. The Cincinnati men's basketball team is among the 15 winningest programs all-time, while the football team became the first American Athletic Conference program to compete in the College Football Playoff in 2021. Olympic gold medalist volleyball player Jordan Thompson, NBA Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson and Major League Baseball legend Sandy Koufax are among the several luminaries who have competed as Bearcats.
UC student-athletes collectively posted a 3.387 overall GPA in the fall of 2021 with 78 percent earning spots on the Honor Roll.

Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati (UC), Department of Athletics seeks applications for a Director of Basketball Operations (Sports Program Associate) to work in the Women’s Basketball program. This is a full-time position, salaried, with a comprehensive benefits package.
The successful candidate will be expected to directly support the operations of the Women’s Basketball program while following University of Cincinnati and departmental policies, NCAA Division I, and Conference bylaws and regulations.
Duties include but are not limited to: Perform administrative tasks to include completion of accurate rosters for student-athletes, processing contracts, travel forms and reimbursements. Monitor, manage and oversee the operational budget; Collaborate with different units in the Department of Athletics, the University of Cincinnati, the NCAA, the American Athletic Conference, to complete scheduling for team, including contract negotiations; Coordinate and make arrangements for all aspects of team travel; including flight, bus, hotel, meals, transportation, practice facilities, per diem expenditures, etc.; Break down of film to coach student-athletes and scout opponents for coaching purposes; Assist on Official and Unofficial visits; Assist with recruiting budget, travel, and expense reports; act as liaison between the Women’s Basketball program and the Athletics Business Office; Manage the office.
Essential Functions

- Identify program needs and implement program improvements.
- Serve as ambassador of the program and look for opportunities to connect the program to the community and business partners.
- May be required to drive a university vehicle and/or student-athletes.
- May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
- Business Operations (direct the operational and logistics function of the program).
- Collaborate with staff to perform administrative tasks in line with program and departmental goals.
Required Education
- Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
Required Trainings/Certifications
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to pass and maintain NCAA recruiting certification if required by sport program.
Required Experience
Previous experience as a coach or collegiate player or work in an athletic department setting.
Additional Qualifications Considered
The person in this position must be able to work evenings, weekends, and travel with the team.
