The Canopy team is a global product team delivering connected security solutions for vehicles which deliver customers ultimate peace of mind. The Director of AI Engineering & Data Science role is highly visible and impactful, shaping how cutting edge AI technologies are engineered and implemented within Canopy products. This role will be great for you if you are motivated by solving real world problems through innovative solutions now, while preserving a passion and excitement for what the future holds.
Responsibilities
  • Champion experimentation with new models and techniques.
  • Bring production-grade AI/ML solutions to market, leveraging industry benchmark best practices.
  • Oversee data mining and collection procedures.
  • Consult on technology and AI policy across the business, including work with relevant company leaders and stakeholders on the upcoming EU AI Act.
  • Foster user empathy amongst teams to uncover disruptive AI innovation.
  • Lead, manage, and grow a multi-disciplinary team of machine learning, data, and MLOps engineers and managers.
  • Design and establish our data science practice, helping to steer product feature development and prioritization.
  • Provide thought leadership in state-of-the-art machine learning techniques.
  • Define innovation goals, such as patent filings, for the team.
  • Collaborate and ensure AI technology roadmap is aligned with the strategic vision of VP of Engineering and VP of Product.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity; uphold ethics and fairness of AI.
Requirements
  • Excellent knowledge across Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Numpy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, etc.
  • Proven success bringing a product to market with AI capabilities
  • Demonstrated experience in applied AI/ML in at least two of the following areas Computer Vision, Audio Processing, Mixed Reality, Data Analytics, Affective Computing
  • Have strong knowledge or awareness of ethics & diversity issues in areas including (but not limited to) research, healthcare, personal security or automotive security.
  • Master level degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or similar field
  • Significant experience as a director of engineering (or similar) leading and growing high-performing engineering teams and managing managers
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly explain and discuss machine learning concepts with colleagues and business leaders of varied levels and backgrounds
  • Have expertise and deep interest in AI ethics and data governance, with up-to-date knowledge of the AI governance landscape.
  • Extensive experience in at least one cloud platform (ex. AWS) and associated machine learning services (ex. Amazon SageMaker)
