This internship within the data analytics team provides end-to-end visibility, from data collection, data storage to deriving insights and generating reports. The data source is Tera Bytes of fleet truck data containing vehicle, traffic and map data, among other sources that is to be mined and insights to be derived for internal and customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in aspects of data storage, backend processing and retrieval strategies.
• As an intern working with big data, you will apply cutting-edge data science techniques and AI/ML algorithms to mine data and generate actionable insights for business improvement including automated driving function performance, efficiency, and safety, among others.
• Identify strategy for functions that are performed on the back end versus on the vehicle to find the most cost-efficient exchange of data between the vehicle and back office.
• Work with real-world driving datasets containing multi-sensor data of road and driving conditions.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Applied knowledge of working with large datasets using software and analytic engine such as Hadoop and/or Spark. Solid understanding of data engineering pipeline to mentor and/or support various aspects of data management.
• Applied knowledge of evaluating and comparing datasets from multiple experiments/drives/sources to perform comparison and similarity testing.
• Strong applied knowledge of predictive modeling, machine learning including various classification and regression techniques.
• Progressive engineering experience working with large datasets preferably in the automotive domain, including building models and extracting insights from data.
• Strong applied knowledge of data preparation for the various ML models including data cleansing and feature set selection, among others.
• Heavy experience with the following programing languages - Python, SQL, R, Spark.
• Graduate student in quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, etc.
• Familiarity with Big Data frameworks and visualization tools (Cassandra, Hadoop, Spark, Tableau)
