Job Description

Job Summary:

The Director of IT Asset Management will be responsible for managing the entire IT asset lifecycle within the organization, including acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and retirement. The role involves overseeing Hardware and Software Asset Management and working closely with other IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure that all IT assets are managed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide regular reports and updates to the AVP of service management on the status of hardware and software asset management within the organization.
  • Risk management: The Director of IT Asset Management must identify and mitigate potential risks related to IT assets, including license compliance, security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Compliance management: The Director of IT Asset Management is responsible for ensuring that the organization is in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to IT asset management.
  • Budgeting and cost optimization: The Director of IT Asset Management is responsible for managing the budget for IT assets, including purchasing and contract decisions. They must ensure that IT assets are acquired and maintained in a cost-effective manner and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Manage vendor relationships: The Director of IT Asset Management must manage relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure that they are providing the organization with the best possible value for IT assets and services.
  • Asset lifecycle management: The Director of IT Asset Management is responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of IT assets, from acquisition to retirement. This includes planning for end-of-life asset disposal and ensuring that all data is properly erased or destroyed.
  • Develop and implement IT asset management policies and procedures: The Director of IT Asset Management is responsible for creating and implementing policies and procedures related to both hardware and software asset management. This involves establishing guidelines for asset acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and retirement.
  • Manage IT asset inventory: The Director of IT Asset Management is responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of all IT assets owned by the organization, including hardware, software, and licenses. This involves monitoring usage, tracking changes, and ensuring all assets are properly documented.

Job Requirements:

  • IT Asset Management or ITIL Certifications.
  • 7+ years of experience in IT asset management, including 3+ years of leadership experience in managing cross functional teams or projects and influencing senior level management.
  • Experience in the health care field helpful, but not required.
  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field preferred; or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing relationships with key software vendors (i.e. Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, etc.)
  • Experience with IT asset management tools and software such as, KACE, LANDesk, or ServiceNow
  • Strong understanding of IT asset management best practices, regulations, and standards
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) and ITIL frameworks
