Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) team is looking for a Director, Global Portfolio Asset Management. The candidate will be responsible for managing our multi-billion dollar portfolio of leased datacenters across the globe. The team interacts regularly with Microsoft's leadership team and has full accountability for our existing leases/ contracts, as well as critical programs which are pivotal to delivering our datacenter platform for Cloud Operations.

The team is looking for a contracts professional with experience delivering and continuously improving our managed portfolio and associated programs, ensuring our inventory continues to align with our overall growth strategy and developing strategic partnerships with key lessors. This candidate will be a solution-oriented person with a combination of business and planning-related domain expertise and an analytical mindset. You must have the ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups to develop creative engineering solutions to drive changes in our complex and rapidly growing Cloud Infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver tools and processes to drive consistency and standardization to our operation
  • Develop a support function for our lease acquisition teams, ensuring our strategic plans are being aligned with new and existing business
  • Prioritize and deliver data-driven portfolio recommendations on how to improve key business outcomes (e.g. efficiency, revenue, margin, compliance, safety etc.)
  • Provide programmatic leadership and input for all compliance and risk matters with our strategic partnerships and our entire contract base
  • Responsible for the management of our multi-billion dollar leased portfolio to support our cloud operations globally
  • Develop and implement a system for tracking and reporting on all leasing activity for tactical development plans as well as for strategic visibility, providing opportunity to achieve improved terms for Microsoft.
  • Overall responsibility for managing multiple lease agreements, across multiple markets globally
  • Drive simplification and automation to increase agility, efficiencies and lower costs
  • Be a thoughtful leader showing model, coach and care, managing a World class team with accountability for a high performing portfolio of datacenters
  • Creation of internal reporting and metrics to enable the business to review and manage overall business performance
  • Define process and improvements that drive long-term, integrated, cross-business solutions to improve business performance and mitigate risk
  • Establish a results-oriented, metrics-driven programmatic approach to strategic asset management to develop improvements and efficiencies for our business
  • Manage, train and develop a team of asset managers and subject matter experts who have focused responsibility on the global datacenter portfolio

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • OR Bachelor's Degree or degree equivalent in Business Management, Real Estate, Project Management, or related field AND 7+ years portfolio management, real estate, or office management experience
  • 10+ years portfolio management, real estate, or office management experience

  • 5-7 years of experience in relevant real estate, business or technology sectors which could include experience in portfolio/asset management of a high performance, fast paced industry; data center investment or business development; financial and/or compliance consulting or risk management in a role that included external-facing engagement with customers/partners.
  • 5+ years proven track record of leading an organization.
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in an asset management or property related function; with real estate, Landlord/Tenant transactions, knowledge of legislation and regulatory property obligations and familiar with complex real estate contracts
  • Ability to point to specific examples of having led transformation projects and program development and the business results achieved.
  • Datacenter experience.
  • Experience in Excel and Outlook

  • Ability to communicate effectively with leadership and influence without authority across levels and functions.

  • Track record of effectively leading & organizing a complex array of programs including mastery of project management planning, dependency management and delivery across multiple stakeholders

    • Intermediate skills in Sharepoint and Teams

Real Estate Portfolio Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124,800 - $266,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159,000 - $292,200 per year.
