Job Description

Overview

The Director Financial Reporting is responsible for directing the preparation and distribution of financial and regulatory reports. This position leads strategic and continuous improvement initiatives and ensures accurate and consistent delivery of reports according to all applicable requirements and guidelines. The Director Financial Reporting manages a team in the preparation and distribution of all internal and external financial reports including regulatory reports.

What you will be doing

  • Confirm entries and transactions are accurately and properly consolidated and included in internal and external financial statements and respective reporting requirements
  • Comply with all corporate and departmental privacy and data security policies and practices, including but not limited to, Hyland’s Information Systems Security Policy
  • Oversees and is accountable for all Human Resources-related managerial functions and responsibilities associated with hiring, compensation management, employment relations, and termination of employees. Oversee the identification and hiring of new employees
  • Evaluate the process and procedures used by team; Identify opportunities for process improvement and greater efficiency, and serve as an advocate for change. Work collaboratively across departments with leaders
  • Oversee and ensure the development of team members; provides coaching to employees through their personal growth in functional expertise, communication skills, and ability to effectively interact with clients and peers. Identify and develop future leaders.
  • Establish and assure leadership adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements
  • Implement formal processes for obtaining and analyzing information gathered from internal business units for financial report preparation
  • Work with the leadership to plan and set the strategic vision, organizational structure, operating policies and procedures and management practices to ensure department delivers operational excellence
  • Cross collaboration within accounting department and external independent auditors and various jurisdictional board of directors
  • Provide managerial direction and oversee all aspects of performance management for direct reports. Measure and hold direct reports accountable for meeting defined performance standards; provide feedback to employees; ensure management team is defining and holding teams accountable for all aspects of performance management of direct reports
  • Direct and oversee compliance efforts with the preparation, review, submission and distribution of all financial reports and statements required by governmental and regulatory agencies and for those requested internally
  • Advise senior leadership and appropriate stakeholders on significant reporting guidelines or regulatory requirements changes, and implement process improvements based on interpretation of new or updated guidelines and requirements
  • Provide strategic influence to internal peers and industry groups
  • Collaborate with senior management and executives to define and ensure success of department strategy
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex issues; provide guidance and resources to assist with resolution of issues, and removing obstacles for team

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Superb oral and written communication skills that demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with others with discretion and tact

  • Superb interpersonal skills; able to maintain solid rapport with team members as well as maintain professionalism with those outside of department
  • 10 years of experience in related field
  • Superb ability to establish rapport and gain the trust of others; effective at gaining consensus

  • Based on individual states’ employment laws, the following details are to comply with the relevant salary posting requirements: base salary range of $140,000-$175,000 and eligible for bonus and benefits
