What You'll Do


As the Director of Corporate Communications and Public Relations, you will be the global communications leader at HIMSS, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the company's communication efforts and contributing to the company's long-term strategy and using creativity to promote our organization around the world. Working within our Marketing function, you will partner with global marketing, social media, technology and product teams to ensure our mission, values and vision are communicated. Your role will also be key in supporting and advising our Executive Leadership Team to ensure that our communication goals align with our business objectives and long-term vision.


You will be responsible for the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of media, public relations activities, internal communications programming across social digital channels and traditional media programs. HIMSS people and culture are key to our success and strengthening our employer brand will also be key. You will also serve as an ambassador for HIMSS globally and build relationships with the media.


This position is a people manager role reporting to the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer.


Responsibility


  • Deep understanding and experience building internal communications programs and engaging people and culture teams
  • Serve as a spokesperson and lead point person on media interactions that help promote and/or impact the organization
  • Serve as the guardian of HIMSS global reputation, supported by a data-driven communications strategy to shape perception
  • Build meaningful and strategic relationships with industry analysts to reinforce our leadership position
  • Lead the charge on executive communications by devising and executing a strategy that engages customers, partners, and employees and generates buzz around HIMSS
  • Engage, cultivate, and manage press relationships to ensure coverage surrounding HIMSS programs, special events, public announcements, and other projects
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the communications function including budgeting, planning and staff development
  • Prioritize media opportunities, and prepare talking points, speeches, presentations and other supporting material as needed
  • Foster a culture of high performance by investing in training and development to advance the craft of communications
  • Be proactive identifying and addressing challenges and emerging issues facing HIMSS by working with cross-functional teams to identify communications opportunities and trends
  • Attract, develop, and retain a motivated communications team that consistently delivers outstanding performance with a commitment to quality and results
  • Foster a strong sense of connection to our mission through internal communications programs that inspire and engage employees
  • Maintain end-to-end responsibility for shaping programs and strategies across healthcare IT, crisis management, strategic communications and programs


Basic


  • 10+ years of experience with Healthcare, Technology, Financial Services or Agency
  • Experience building relationships with top-tier health, technology and business media
  • Experience with monthly reporting, social media KPIs, PR databases such as Cision, intranet or CMS publishing

This position is responsible for evolving the Total Rewards strategy that supports the growth and business needs of the organization. Working closely with function leaders and the Chief Administration Officer, this position will ensure that all functions of Total Rewards is compliant, scalable, reliable and reflects Company values.


Essential Functions


Total Rewards


  • Lead the annual open enrollment period including coordinating meetings, carrier and vendor updates, website and communication plan.
  • Oversees all leave administration. This includes working with the TPA to ensure employee questions are answered, leave time is tracked, notices are sent, and payroll and disability pay processing is completed.
  • Serves as a liaison with Finance and Accounting areas to the accuracy and completeness of financial recording and payments.
  • Administer employee benefits programs such as retirement plans; medical, dental, vision plans; life insurance plans; temporary disability programs; and wellness programs. Support overseeing the executive benefit plans.
  • Oversees the organization’s salary administration program based on the defined career levels. Ensures benchmark analysis and salary surveys are conducted to obtain external market data. Conduct internal review of FLSA and career level. Approve recruitment offers and guide leaders on career mobility decisions.
  • Provides oversight, strategic direction, and administration of base pay and annual incentive plan, and other incentive programs including communication plan from the organization and managers.
  • Partner with leadership to develop specifications for new plans or modify existing plans. Install approved changes by preparing announcement materials, plan summary documents and other media for communicating plans to employees.
  • Evaluate and compare existing company benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys and other sources of information.
  • Collaborate with leadership on compensation program design, analysis, and implementation / maintenance of the career framework.
  • Manages and administers the ADA and Workers Compensation programs.
  • Assure company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act, the Affordable Care Act, and other regulatory governances.
  • Serves as Plan Administrator for the organizations 401(k) Plan. Manages annual audit and filing requirements. Reviews and approves team members’ disbursements and loan requests. Verifies timely submission and accuracy of team member 401 (k) payroll contributions an employer match deposits with plan.
  • Develop and document procedures to streamline compensation processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.


HRIS


  • Maintains data quality of ADP, including proper data security, by performing regular data audits and resolving any data integrity issues.
  • Identifying and understanding issues, problems, and opportunities.
  • Using data to recommend process improvements and innovative solutions.
  • Provide HR guidance to leaders related to the Total Rewards functions, including local or regional support outside the US.
  • Comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions.
  • Partner with the payroll team to process biweekly US payroll and monthly payrolls outside the US.
  • Perform system maintenance, including assisting in the review, testing and implementation of HR system(s) upgrades. Document process and results.
  • Create and maintain quarterly and annual HR dashboard using qualitative and quantitative data to tell employees stories and make recommendations to guide business decisions.


Compliance & Data Governance


  • Create and maintain personnel files including the proper completion of Form I-9
  • Provide ongoing project support to the HR department in effort to achieve our overall changemaker culture.
  • Special Projects
  • Oversee maintaining the ADP time-off policies in ADP and respond to first-level inquiries from managers and employees, as time permits.
  • Lead the compliance governance for the HR team. Maintain annual compliance calendar and orchestrate team and data to meet reporting requirements.
  • Research new legislative laws and provide guidance on obtain. If needed, lead project for implementing change including communication to staff.
  • Oversee government reporting such as EEO-1, Vets, and Affirmative Action

Required Qualifications
