      Summary

      This position is aligned under the U.S. State Department, Bureau of Administration (A), Office of Logistics Operations (LM), Office of Program Management and Policy (PMP), Diplomatic Pouch and Mail Division (DPM), Operations Branch at the DPO Gateway office in Chicago, Illinois.

        Duties

        Ensures accuracy of critical Diplomatic Post Office (DPO) data stored throughout the intricately linked United States Postal Service (USPS) Network Operations. Systems

        Prepares studies and analyses to determine the most effective and economical use of commercial air and ground transportation for the movement of DPO mail.

        Coordinates with commercial air carriers and USPS transportation managers to provide expeditious mail processing and movement.

        Ensures mail transportation plans comply with USPS and DOS policy and directives and meet each country's unique host nation agreement and customs requirements.

        Monitors world events, reviews, and receives cables, faxes, emails, telephone calls, and Postal Net Alerts from agencies, posts, airlines, and mail facilities which identify complex international mail management problems and finds solutions.

        Specialized Experience:

        Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

        Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

        • Experience developing and implementing procedures aimed at preventing postal offenses.
        • Experience analyzing, reviewing and evaluating mail related program areas, to assure compliance with standards for processing, receipt, dispatch, delivery, and security.

        There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.
