Job Description

The Digital Content Director position exists to administer the day-to-day operations for planning, publication, and promotion of compelling, relevant, and timely family-related digital content.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Plans and manages all daily operations for family-related digital content
Hires, coaches, manages, and nurtures a team of Digital Editors/Producers who will plan, publish, and promote digital written and video content on the websites, social media channels, and email cultivation tracks
Ensures that all digital content is on brand, on message, and meets or exceeds quality standards
Implements best practices, workflows, tools, and templates to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the publishing process
Drives productivity to meet input goals for producing high-quality content each week
Assigns tasks for digital editors/producers, plans, and approves assignments; creates and manages detailed content schedules and publishing calendars; enforces deadlines
Provides editorial oversight
Maintains editorial and tone standards; oversees proofreading procedures and edits copy; assists in evaluating finalized documents for compliance with orthodoxy, policies, style, and tone; drives innovation in the content space as best practices change
Ensures output target metrics are met for website and social media traffic
Monitors and optimizes performance to meet SEO, traffic, engagement, and growth targets
Communicates across departments and works cross-functionally with other stakeholder teams to procure creative assets, adheres to ministry values, passes legal review, and coordinates with other content teams across the ministry
Provides content management system oversight
Participates with marketing around constituent engagement and conversion for CTAs and other methods of constituent interaction
Assists in the implementation of various content marketing funnels directing website visitors to deeper engagement and activation towards long-term ministry and donations
Assists Executive Director with providing various monthly and trimester reporting on productivity goals for executive leadership scorecard
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs other duties, including but not limited to duties as assigned, some of which may include the development and creation of a variety of copyrightable works (e.g., printed pieces, photography, video, voice work, music, etc.) for distribution in any media and formats (such as television, radio, internet, DVD, books, and digital) on a worldwide basis, all of which will be for the benefit of Focus on the Family
Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job:

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field; Master’s degree preferred
7-10 years of experience managing digital editorial teams
5-7 years of substantive writing, editing, and digital publishing experience
Strong strategic, conceptual, and creative thinking
Knowledge of Google Analytics and SEMrush for keyword research, online data ranking and metrics

A personal, well-mannered, humble, and engaging temperament is critical
Very strong organizational skills - ability to seek high-quality information quickly, synthesize viewpoints, provide ideas and solutions, and interact effectively with senior leaders. Must be a team player and collaborative personality

Salary Range: $83,196 to $95,157/yr.
