Sims Brothers Recycling is a family-owned business providing exceptional service in the Central Ohio area for 80 years. Sims Brothers buys, transports, processes, brokers and sells all types of recyclable products including scrap iron and steel, nonferrous metals, cardboard, newspaper, high grade paper, plastics, and glass.

We are currently looking for a full-time Diesel Mechanic to join our team in our Marion, Ohio location.

About The Position

• On occasion able to work overtime as needed
• $25.00 Per Hour
• Weekends Off
• Monday - Friday Work Week
• Location: Marion, OH
• Shift: 7am - 3:30pm

Responsibilities

• Perform regular routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, adjusting brakes, changing tires and lubricating equipment
• Ensure the appearance of vehicles and maintenance shop
• Complies with federal and state requirements by completing DOT inspection of vehicles.
• Inspect and diagnose vehicles through various diagnostic testing to determine appropriate repairs
• Remove and replace components such as brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, drive train components, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, hydraulics and other important parts to ensure that vehicles are in proper operating condition
• Willingness to participate in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications
• Maintain documentation of service and repair to all vehicles

Requirements

• On occasion able to work overtime as needed.
• Valid unrestricted driver's license - CDL Class A preferred
• Must be a team player and treat co-workers with respect.
• Good communication skills and reliable attendance is expected.
• 1 Year of Experience Preferred
• Current Medical Card
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work under pressure.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
• Heavy duty class 8 diesel experience preferred

Education And/or Experience

• High school or post-secondary training in automotive and/or diesel engine repair
