The Patient Care Technician
(PCT) provides care to patients with end-stage renal disease, supporting clinical staff throughout the dialysis treatment process to deliver prescribed treatments. Our PCTs are an integral part of the interdisciplinary team in ensuring safe care and the highest quality outcomes for every patient.

Schedule:
Full-time, four 10-hour shifts starting at 5:00am; Sundays off; no overnight shifts

Compensation:
Pay range from $15.00-$18.00 per hour, depending on healthcare experience; experience not required

Responsibilities:
What You Can Expect:
  • Determine patient care priorities and organize work load accordingly
  • Guide new patients through 120-day education plan
  • Set up and break down dialysis blood system for treatment
  • Actively participate in infection control, risk management and patient education activities
  • Maintain and track inventory
  • Maintain professional working relationship, observing patient privacy and rights
  • Role under RN supervision
  • Calculate patient’s weight loss to reach dry weight
  • Obtain and record patient vital signs and machine readings during treatment
  • Insert and remove patient access needles
  • Monitor patients during dialysis, document changes and inform charge nurse of any concerns
  • Perform laboratory work
Qualifications:
Successful Candidates Bring:
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Desire to collaborate with care teams
  • Excellent communication skills

Education/Training:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred, but not required
  • Dialysis experience not required, job shadow opportunities available
  • CNA, EMT, medical assistant, CNT and/or phlebotomy skills desired
  • DCI provides a 3-month comprehensive education program, including classroom group sessions and one-on-one skills training
