Job Overview
Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the Dialysis Care Technician provides care to dialysis patients in the chronic outpatient setting. The Dialysis Care Technician is a direct patient care position and works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.

Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits
Shift: Mon-Sat with rotating hours- 4 10 hour shifts/week or 5 8 hour shifts/week
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certified in Clinical Nephrology Technology (CCNT) from NNCO
- Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) from NNCC
- Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Certification from one of the following, within 18 months of hire:
- Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT)
- Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) from NNCC
- Certified in Clinical Nephrology Technology (CCNT) from NNCO

Responsibilities
- Reviews and accurately documents care provided.
- Sets-up and prepares dialysis machine according to dialysis orders.
- Checks machine conductivity and troubleshoots hemodialysis machine alarms.
- Assists with collection of specimens and prints labels as required for lab testing.
- Documents patient’s vitals and machine parameters.
- Communicates with assigned nurse, as patient condition warrants.
- Breaks down dialysis machine and ensures dialysis equipment is cleaned.
- Supply management: Assess PAR levels, orders supply stock, works with Central Supply when supplies are needed during patient care, maintains supply of paper documentation.
- Conducts water responsibilities including Main RO chlorine checks, daily hardness test on Main RO, assists with portable RO setup.
- Unit tasks: Crash Cart checks daily and monthly, inventory review of cart supplies, orders patient nutrition in accordance with dietary orders, answers phones, checks machine disinfection log, requests new, revised, or additional appointments for dialysis or renal nurse visits, prepares documentation run sheets for next day’s treatments.
- Partners with Nephrology Administrative Service Coordinators on monthly admin tasks, runs sheet scanning, creates labels for run sheets, audits run sheets in electronic health record.
- Completes pre authorizations for medications.
- May teach and/or train new team members, within established policies and procedures.
- Assists with audits: hand hygiene, SCOPE, and other collaboratives.

Salary Information
Hourly Salary Range: $18.08 to $27.12
