Job Description
Position Overview


Minds Matter seeks a passionate, organized, and driven Development Assistant/Associate to join the team. The Development Assistant/Associate will play a critical role in expanding our base of support as Minds Matter Cleveland scales in size and impact.


The Development Assistant/Associate will support fundraising operations & communications. Specifically, this role will assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events, lead donor data management and gift processing, support donor cultivation and prospect research, manage communications projects, and oversee social media campaigns.


This position is a unique opportunity to work with a small team making a large impact in the nonprofit sector. This position will report to the Executive Director and collaborate with other members of the Minds Matter team. The title (Assistant or Associate) will be determined based on candidates’ experience.


Fundraising


Core Responsibilities


  • Contribute to the planning, creation, and promotion of all appeals, namely the Annual Appeal in November/December
  • Research, identify and qualify new prospective funding opportunities
  • Collaborate with Executive Director to design and maintain an annual calendar of donor stewardship activities and strategies that advance annual donors


Event Planning & Support


  • Manage other fundraising opportunities
  • Support in organizing small fundraising events throughout the year
  • Work with the Executive Director to plan and execute development events by managing logistics, sending communications, soliciting silent auction items and facilitating corporate sponsorship details


Communications & Marketing


  • Work with freelance graphic designer to create marketing collateral for campaigns and events
  • Build out brand awareness by researching and writing about the accomplishments of our students, alumni, staff, and volunteers


Operational Support


  • Create and send thank you notes, donation tax receipts, invoices etc.
  • Manage Salesforce database by logging donor information and stewardship activities; run reports, synthesize information and share updates with Executive Director
  • Manage Classy and other online fundraising and donation platforms


Qualifications


  • Excellent organizational skills and an acute attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Google Docs (Docs, Sheets, Slides) & Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Publisher, Power Point)
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize requests from multiple members of the team
  • Willingness to work under pressure and in high-demand situations
  • Must be available to work occasional evenings and approximately 6 Saturdays per year
  • Commitment to helping a highly successful organization implement systems and structures to support significant growth
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds, interests, and skills
  • Passionate about the Minds Matter mission
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 1-3 year(s) work experience in development preferred
  • Previous experience with CRM databases, such as Salesforce, preferred


Work Environment


Minds Matter Cleveland operates in a blended work environment - core aspects of the role require a physical presence in-office or on-site, however, other aspects of our work may be accomplished remotely. The weekday work schedule and environment (in-person, remote, hybrid) will be determined in consultation with the Executive Director to best meet the needs of the organization and the team, with each team member working on-site at least two days a workweek.
