Wilmington College is seeking applications for the position of Desktop & Media Tedchnician. The Desktop & Media Technician is an entry-level position that provides deployment, troubleshooting, repair and ongoing support for desktop and media systems used by Wilmington College. These systems include desktop PC, laptops, mobile devices, phones, printers, scanners, monitors, projectors, webcams, keyboards, mice and other user-facing devices as well as classroom/meeting room devices and wiring. This position also supports the Copy Center in fulfilling copy center requests. Reporting to the Help Desk Manager, the Desktop & Media Technician ensures that requests for service are handled in a courteous, timely manner. The Desktop & Media Technician is a key player in delivering good customer service and therefore must exhibit good customer service skills at all times.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Works closely with the IT Help Desk to ensure work requests tickets are addressed in a timely fashion.
  • Submits warranty/repair requests to vendors and ensures timely completion of repair or replacement.
  • Sets up, deploys, installs software and drivers and supports all manner of desktop equipment including but not limited to PCs, laptops, mobile devices, tablets, phones, monitors, webcams, speakers, keyboards, mice, printers, scanners, projectors, classroom equipment, etc.
  • Maintains inventory of equipment, parts and cables necessary to support desktop and classroom systems and makes recommendations to replenish stock.
  • Tears down and properly disposes/recycles used and outdated equipment.
  • Troubleshoots problems with desktop & classroom systems and either corrects them or works with IT Team to have the problem corrected if advanced support is required.

  • Good working knowledge of desktop and classroom technologies.

  • Ability to work outside of normal hours when required to minimize impact to College operations.
  • Strive for excellence in performance of responsibilities and in meeting needs of clients/students served.
  • Meet objectives in a timely and effective manner and strives to fulfill the college's strategic agenda.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Exhibit necessary level of knowledge and expertise.
  • Know and observe college and departmental policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Ability to work independently and evidence of flexibility to perform multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current working knowledge of desktop technologies including desktop operating systems as well as classroom systems such as projectors, amplifiers, sound systems, digital/analog video cabling, overhead cameras, Zoom Room equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • High School Diploma with emphasis/experience in desktop/media technologies. Associates Degree or higher preferred.
  • Able to work standards hours as well as after hours as needed.
