Summary
The Designer will support the company’s marketing efforts by crafting clear and compelling designs across a range of formats to showcase our product portfolio to advertising clients and prospects. The Designer will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a consistent visual tone across advertising assets, sales collateral, email campaigns, and more. The Designer will create designs that may range from high-fidelity mock-ups to final executions.
Responsibilities

  • Understand and respond to promotion performance data (metric tests, usability studies), and steer the direction of future creative designs
  • Create engaging marketing campaigns for LA Times’ business platform, B2B Publishing, varying from print, digital ads and social media creatives as well as web banners/thumbnails
  • Create clear and engaging visuals in support of potential advertising clients, partnerships, and opportunities. Such visuals may include, but are not limited to, marketing and sales collateral, digital and print advertisements, social media, email campaigns, video sizzle reels, direct mail and more.
  • Collaborate with different teams/departments & product categories to develop projects to its final stages
  • Foster a design culture that enables world-class creative work and talent development
  • Develop compelling visual presentation design that gets attention
  • Effectively and proactively manage deliverables and deadlines for creative with transparency
  • Present and defend your own work and that of creative team to peers, stakeholders, and senior executives
  • Create concepts, sketches, graphics and high-fidelity executions in support of brand and marketing campaigns, packaging, and store design
  • Develop visuals to share an idea, research, or a product concept with a crowd
  • Help shape and expand the visual toolkit and materials for LA Times’ communications
  • Create systematized design materials that maintain a consistent visual tone
  • Participate in projects from initial concept design, to final production, and guidelines documentation
  • Develop strategy and design for products, events and categories
Requirements And Qualifications
  • Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality
  • Strong project management with the ability to work well under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong storytelling skills
  • Tech savvy: Being able to figure out solutions on the fly
  • Organized with your design files so that the team can leverage and understand what you have created
  • Comprehensive ability to not only successfully apply necessary brand elements, but also be able to expand style guide to various assets
  • The ability to leverage feedback and channel it into design exploration
  • Strong understanding and skills in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign (other Creative Cloud programs are a plus, but not required)
  • Expert in Apple Keynote, including animation
  • Knowledge and flexible with both Mac and PC platforms
  • In-depth knowledge of typography
  • Intuitive and has a good eye for design consistency throughout assets
  • 3+ years of experience and a strong portfolio showcasing graphic design skills across various mediums such as digital, ads, print, social and video.
  • Technically savvy, a whiz at figuring out solutions on-the-fly to tricky issues
  • Expert in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Solid understanding of fundamental marketing principles including online/digital, product development
Preferred Qualifications
  • Great at multitasking and time management
  • Your teammates can rely on you to consistently show up, effectively communicate and help get projects done by the deadline
  • Initiate meetings with project managers and feedback sessions
  • Familiar with SharePoint, Google Drive or Monday to effectively share working and final files
  • Basic understanding of motion graphics and animate vector and 2D graphics for advertisement, socials, and websites using tools such as After Effects or Adobe Premiere

The pay scale for this position is $80,000-$85,000. This is the pay scale range the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting. Compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position.
