Job Description

Schedule: Full Time, 8:30am-5pm, Monday-Friday


Responsibilities

Under general direction of the Department Manager or Senior Service Tech, the Delivery Technician performs maintenance, repair, delivery, cleaning and set-up of medical equipment and supplies. The Delivery Technician also performs safety assessments in the home setting for the neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient and orients the client/caregiver to equipment, including safety and infection control aspects.

Essential Functions:
  • Maintains delivery trucks/van in good working order at all times. Is responsible for cleanliness and safety of truck and contents. Maintains all applicable logs and records for truck.
  • Knows and practices principles of infection control in the truck, home and warehouse. Separates clean and dirty equipment and supplies. Uses PPE as needed. Uses disinfectant properly to clean equipment.
  • Promptly reports complaints or problems to appropriate persons if he cannot resolve the issue personally.
  • Attends required in-service education programs at the company throughout the year or arranges for a 1:1 review of the class with the instructor. Knows how to use a fire extinguisher and what to do in an emergency on the road or in the home.
  • Helps to maintain warehouse. Unloads deliveries. Receives stock. Stocks shelves. Rotates stock. Keeps clean and dirty separate. Checks expiration dates of supplies and solutions. Keeps warehouse tidy and in good condition.
  • Reports all changes or requests to the Respiratory Care Practitioner promptly. Relays all complaints to Respiratory Care Practitioner and/or manager. Attempts to resolve those within his scope of care.
  • Knows and understands the mechanics of equipment in the warehouse. Can perform most repairs. Understands how to clean equipment. Schedules equipment delivery with patient; sets up equipment in the neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric client home; performs safety assessment; and orients client/caregiver to equipment.
  • Understands principles of oxygen administration, knows and practices safety principles when working with oxygen, and teaches clients/caregivers about oxygen administration and safety.
  • Understands and practices good technique concerning hazardous materials, including oxygen, chemicals and infectious wastes. Uses red bags appropriately.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma/GED required.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Driver's license – PA, upon hire, required.
