The Disney Decision Science and Integration (DDSI) is the Walt Disney Company’s center of excellence for developing and deploying innovative analytics that support decision making for client organizations across The Walt Disney Company (TWDC), including Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (e.g., ABC, ESPN, FX, Studio Entertainment, Disney Theatrical Group) and Parks, Experiences & Products. To drive business value through decision-shaping analytics, DDSI leverages technology, optimization, simulation, statistics and machine learning models to explore opportunities and deploy new analytical capabilities.


The Decision Science Product team within DDSI is looking for a Consultant that will contribute to a highly skilled team of experts across business and technical domains. This role will provide operational support to Media Research deliverables, including the application of analytics solutions to the client organization and processes. The Consultant will partner with our clients, vendors and internal TWDC teams such as Decision Science, Data Integration, and various segment-specific analytics and technology groups.


The successful candidate will be data-driven and business-minded, and will be passionate about solving business questions through data analysis. In this position, you will transform data into meaningful business insights. The role will include working with analytically minded peers, where you are expected to contribute to and challenge the current knowledgebase. You should enjoy connecting with your teammates and leadership to brainstorm ways to better support business decisions, building data visualization dashboards, and performing data analysis to explain patterns and provide recommendations.


Responsibilities:


  • Automate own and basic client processes where feasible and appropriate
  • Work in Python/SQL to perform data preparation, explanatory modeling, forecasting support tool validation and other sustainment tasks
  • Collaborate with leadership on tasks, prioritization, and decision-making
  • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of proper product documentation
  • Support client relationship across one or more projects, through a solid understanding of the business, providing day to day consulting, and collaborating with leadership to communicate with partners
  • Be a problem solver; when presented with new challenges, think critically about the business problem and recommend solutions to leadership
  • Influence smaller project teams by providing guidance on business expectations
  • Gather business requirements and work with leadership to translate them into actionable processes, technology work flows, and decision science solutions
  • Independently draw conclusions and surface insights during data exploration, model building, and ad hoc analysis
  • Utilize Tableau to deliver accurate, clear, concise insights and visualizations


Basic Qualifications:


  • Understanding of basic data science methodologies at both technical and applied levels (e.g. forecasting, machine learning, optimization, etc.)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to rapidly changing business environment
  • Familiarity with building internal project management documentation and tracking towards delivery
  • 1-2 years of experience and proficiency in Python, SQL (or similar programming languages) and data visualization (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
  • Ability to collaborate across both highly technical and non-technical teams to complete objectives
  • Familiarity with basic software development and testing
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Ability to contribute to client presentations to senior leadership
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic database structure
  • Ability to effectively communicate and translate the languages of analytics and business applications
  • Strong attention to detail


How To Stand Out:


  • Proficiency in automating existing processes
  • Familiarity with Nielsen and other video measurement solutions
  • Experience with internal or external consulting
  • 1-2 years of experience in product management role
  • Experience with the media industry, especially television and streaming
  • Strong understanding of advanced analytical methods


Required Education:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Data Mining, Analytics, or other quantitative field; Master's Degree preferred
