Debt Management Officer


Charter seeks an exceptionally qualified Collections Leader to manage & ensure optimal synchronization of collection requirements and operations. Candidate would be directing the work of employees by leading and overseeing their day-to-day activities, work schedules and by providing work-related guidance and training in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures.

Responsibilities/Duties:

Specific duties and functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist Collectors with collection activities in difficult cases and recommend collection techniques.
  • Liaison with Clients and develop a thorough understanding of their individual requirements/SLA’s.
  • Manage business results by analyzing reports and productivity.
  • Interfaces and collaborates with clients, collectors and supporting officers.
  • Ensure compliance with CFPB rules and company policies and procedures.
  • Investigate, resolve, and respond to escalated customer issues in addition to other general customer queries.
  • Manage, coach, develop and train collectors to achieve expected departmental results and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures and provide feedback when needed.
  • Recruit, hire, train and evaluate staff members within the collections department.
  • Effectively manage a team maintaining unity among employees.
  • Coordinates with leadership to determine required/desired strategy and plans.
  • Coordinates activities of collectors which may include dialer strategy, client relationship, escalations, CRM etc
  • Review accounts that have been referred by the client for legal actions against debtors if required.
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.

  • Qualifications:


    Required Experience & Education:

    • Strong critical thinking, detail-orientation, and problem-solving skills.
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Ability to research, analyze, and prioritize information.
    • 5 years of Experience working with a collection agency.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
    • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is a requirement.
    • Exposure to debt buying would be nice to have.
    • Thorough knowledge/understanding of CFPB, FDCPA and other rules regarding collections.
    • Minimum 10 years of experience related to the job description.
    • Excellent organizational skills to address complex issues.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication as well as presentation skills;
    • Self-starter, able to prioritize, multi-task and to work independently and as a team player.
    • Personal integrity, Flexibility, adaptability, and commitment.
    • Should have a valid US work permit.
