Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa (CCCM) is a Christ-centered ministry, led by the Holy Spirit. The ministry began with the church located in Costa Mesa, CA and has flourished and expanded into a multifaceted ministry which includes Christian Schools, Christian Conference Centers, a Bible College, a School of Worship, Christian Radio Stations, Christian radio programs, Christian book distribution, and Christian bookstores.


Calvary Chapel Schools was established to meet the educational, social, and spiritual needs of the children of Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, pastored by Pastor Brian Brodersen. CCS is a ministry of CCCM, building up Christian leaders in mind, body, and soul through Biblical truth, character development, and strong academic pursuits, enabling students to serve and enjoy Christ and their community.


Position Purpose / Summary

Under direct supervision, the Playground/Daycare Staff assists school staff in maintaining the safety and well-being of students during eating and playground activity by monitoring designated areas as assigned; and performs related duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will be a minister of the Gospel in this position and will have a strong relationship with Jesus Christ.They will be an example to the staff, students, and parents.


Responsibilities / Duties / Functions / Tasks


Essential duties of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Follows school protocols for student discipline and office referrals.
  • Assists and directs school visitors to the office; assists and supervises students as they leave or enter the school grounds.
  • Reports unauthorized activities and unauthorized persons on school grounds to appropriate authority.
  • Assists with the preparation and signing of accident reports if students are injured.
  • Directs students to health office as applicable.
  • Ensures that safety rules are obeyed and applies school site student conduct code.
  • Patrols student restrooms to control over-crowding.
  • Assists students in resolving minor conflicts on the playground.
  • Supervises students in the playground, hot Lunch lines and eating areas.
  • Encourages and promotes courtesy among students.
  • On rainy or inclement weather days may supervise students in classrooms to allow teachers a lunch break.
  • Helps guide students in developing good habits of sportsmanship and citizenship.
  • May assist school PE teachers with helping implement PE class activities

Qualifications


Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma. Experience supervising children is desirable.

Knowledge, skills and ability required but are not limited to the following:

  • Work well with children.
  • Student health regulations and safety protocols.
  • Observe and enforce health and safety regulations.
  • School protocols for student discipline and office referrals.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide variety of personalities.
  • Maintain confidential student and family information.
  • Monitor students and respond to situations in a quick and timely manner.
  • Perform duties with patience, tact, and good judgment and within established guidelines.
  • School policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Typical playground games.
  • Conflict resolution strategies and techniques.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
  • Safety rules and habits.
  • Understand, implement, and give oral and written direction in English.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions for the job but are not limited to the following:

  • Vision to monitor student behavior during assignment.
  • Playground or lunch area environment, indoor and outdoor; extended exposure to sun or inclement weather; noise of children at play.
  • Bending at the waist and kneeling; standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • May involve lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Hearing and speaking to provide guidance to students and to communicate with staff.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to participate in various activities with students.
