Day Custodian (Da) 7:00Am-4:00Pm

INTRODUCTION

• The hourly wage is $17.50
• The core working hours are 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday
• Proof of Disability is required prior to interviewing
• This position requires a pre-employment criminal history background check, and government security clearance.
• 60-minute lunch break
• This position is located at Goddard in Greenbelt, Maryland
• This position is set aside for a person with a disability according to the Ability One government contract guidelines

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Notify the supervisor when supplies and equipment are needed to perform tasks
• All other duties assigned by Custodial Foreman
• Maintain issued equipment
• Polish kick panels, doorknobs, and other designated fixtures
• Dust horizontal surfaces
• Empty and wash ashtrays
• Vacuum rugs
• Clean glass and windows
• Strip and wax floors
• Mix cleaning solutions
• Sweep and mop hallways, stairs, and offices
• Sweep and clear snow from outside steps and sidewalks
• Empty wastebaskets and dispose of the trash in the prescribed manner
• Clean bathrooms
• Wash walls and other vertical surfaces
• Wax and buff floors with prescribed buffers

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

• He/She must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds in order to clean work areas and handle supplies and equipment
• Must be able to communicate with supervisors and co-workers; must be able to see, have depth perception, and tell colors for safety reasons and to distinguish between chemicals
• All of these requirements are necessary for using ladders and stairs, cleaning low areas, high areas, benches, and corners
• The incumbent must be able to stand 80% of the work time, walk 15%, and sit 5%
• Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and handle

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have three to six months of training or experience
• Must be able to pass security clearance requirements for designated contract location
