About Job

The Database Administrator is responsible for the management, maintenance, standards, policies, lifecycle management, design, and implementation of new and existing company databases. The Database Administrator will work under the direction of the Application Manager at the Foxconn EV manufacturing facility and will work closely with MES engineers, Infrastructure engineers and the other IT resources. In addition, the successful Database Administrator must be able to work with minimal supervision on multiple concurrent projects.

Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

• Other Duties as required
• Participate in rotating on call support in a 24 x 7 production environment and be available as secondary for critical event escalation
• Provide documentation of all processes and training as needed
• Identify, prioritize, and perform day-to-day database administration activities, including knowledge transfer and onboarding of new technology
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge with current technologies and technical developments
• Gathers, organizes, and interprets data from the database to provide reports
• Implement best practices for scalability, supportability, ease of maintenance, and system performance
• Installs, configures, upgrades, and troubleshoots Oracle and SQL databases in Unix/Linux/Windows platforms
• Assists Application and Infrastructure Teams in identifying issues in production and/or development environments
• Diagnoses database performance bottlenecks and provides enhancements
• Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting for the assigned application(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
• Creates and maintains operational document procedures
• Participate in functional test planning and testing for the assigned application(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
• Share knowledge by effectively documenting work
• Resolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues
• Collaborates and facilitates pro-actively with internal staff to define and resolve issues, including information flow and content issues and help transform business requirements into environment specific databases
• Respond quickly and effectively to production issues and taking responsibility for seeing those issues through resolution

Education and Ideal Experience

• In-depth knowledge and experience with RDBMS technologies including Oracle RDBMS on Linux, and Microsoft SQL Server
• A minimum of 5 years of solid experience in multiple and large-scale Oracle and SQL Server databases environment
• Education and experience typically obtained through completion of a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
• Prior experience writing PL/SQL triggers and/or procedures
• Strong hands-on experience in the art of performance tuning, utilizing OEM or third-party tools to finely tune objects and partitions
• Working knowledge of LINUX and shell scripting
• Experience configuring database network connectivity
• Experience managing, starting, and shutting down Oracle RAC environments to support upgrade, patching, and maintenance associated with Oracle databases
• Extensive experience with Oracle 19c Architecture and database infrastructure design and Oracle 19c new features
• Hands on experience designing and deploying database systems for high performance, resiliency, availability, and reliability on premise and in the cloud
• Extensive experience with Oracle/SQL Databases including installation, upgrades, online patching, and cloning

Preferences and Qualifications

• Willing and able to participate in the on-call schedule/rotation
• Ability to analyze existing systems and make recommendations on which technology best suits the business requirement for high availability, Disaster Recovery or high performance
• Demonstrated hands-on approach, analytical abilities, and attention to detail
• Oracle Certification (OCP) and database related certificate preferred
• A self-starter who can identify, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate well, verbally and in writing, and have strong reading comprehension and listening skills
• Excellent communication, presentation, and customer relationship skills
• Strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills
• Have a desire to learn and develop technical skills to keep current with changing operations
• On/off shift support will be needed for project startup support
• “Can-do” attitude, proactive and resourceful

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• This position is basically 100% onsite role for production support and will work primarily in an office environment but should be able to walk down to the shop floor in the factory when required
• Wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE) when visiting the shop floor is required
