Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities for centralized and distributed, non-clustered and clustered database architecture for Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL/MariaDB environments
  • Implement, Maintain, and Support Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL/MariaDB.and related maintenance tools
  • Remote or in-office work is available
  • Provide DB related assistance to other IT teams.
  • Assist with software upgrades for related applications
  • Monitor and tune performance of related hardware and software
  • Implementation and monitoring database security measures
  • Occasional off-hours support of major system upgrades or system recovery efforts
  • Other duties as required
  • Recommend and implement emerging database technologies
  • Assist with schema design, query optimization, and custom code review

Knowledge and Skills Considered Essential for Success:

  • Must be an independent "self-starter" who also functions well in a team environment.
  • Demonstrable diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to write technical reports and documentation
  • A thorough understanding database security and industry best practices including account provisioning, role-based privileges.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage several projects and operational duties
  • Proficiency in a form of scripting language (ex. PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.)
  • An understanding of web, application, and database server architectures, with experience in installation, maintenance, monitoring, and configuration
  • Familiarity with automation concepts
  • Proficiency in at least one SQL languange variant.

Job Requirements:
  • Experience or course work administering Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL/MariaDB, Oracle or other multi-user, relational database software
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
  • Experience or course work with Linux/Unix or Windows Server operating systems
  • Experience or course work in SQL programming
  • At least one year of relevant job experience or course work including database administration support duties

Additional Information:


Salary Range: $58,000 - $63,000
