Decision Spot is a startup based in Chicago, IL and Richmond, VA. We are helping our clients in transforming their supply chain and operations with the use of advanced analytics, i.e., operations research, data science, and machine learning. We are a growing team of optimization, data science, data engineering, and software engineering experts.

Decision Spot is looking for data scientists who will enjoy finding creative solutions to solve complex business problems in supply chain and operations. The person in this role will work with large datasets, find necessary insights, build machine learning models, and present results to the stakeholders. Creating a useful solution for a business problem requires good technical and programming skills as well as creativity and practicality.
Responsibilities:
- Test and validate model results for robustness and accuracy.
- Communicate with clients to understand their business processes, rules, and requirements.
- Create effective and quality visualization dashboards and presentations to explain business insights and results to project steering committees.
- Determine necessary models and algorithms that meet solution requirements.
- Determine data requirements. Gather, understand, clean, and process data for the modeling purposes. Write SQL or Python scripts that can be used to automate data preparation process.
- Build and deploy models using open-source and proprietary tools.
Qualifications:
- Experience in building clustering, classification, regression, time-series forecasting, and other predictive analytics and machine learning models using Python or other programming languages.
- Comfortable in explaining a technical topic to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or similar field with the focus on predictive analytics, and machine learning courses.
- 0-3 years of industry experience in analyzing large data, building visualizations, and building and deploying machine learning models.
- Experience in building user-focused visualizations using tools like Tableau, PowerBI, etc.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in data wrangling using SQL or similar tools.
Bonus Skills:
- Background in linear programming/optimization modeling.
- Experience in building deep learning models and working with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark.
- Recent graduates with exceptional technical and communication skills are encouraged to apply. We will provide necessary on-job training.
