Job Description

Summary


In this role, as a Data Science Intern on our Data Science team, you will have the opportunity to spend a summer in all things Data Science and see into the heart of what makes Data Science at Vivint work. You will get the chance to work with a wide variety of machine learning methods and models for supervised and unsupervised classification and regression. You will gain greater exposure to various tools such as R, Python, Snowflake, Spark, and Data Robot. You will be responsible for completing a capstone project that you will present on at the end of the internship.


Primary Responsibilities


As a member of the data science team, you will report to the Sr. Data Scientist. You will be a member of a high performing team with cross functional support and responsibilities. The data science team works to support the various teams across the organization.


Required Skills


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Completed some data science projects either within college program or entry-level job; from idea generation, objectives formulation, to implementation and deliverables
  • Some knowledge and application of a variety of statistical and data science approaches for classification and regression such as Linear/Logistic Regression, Random Forest, XGBoost, LightGBM, Neural Networks, etc.
  • Strong desire to learn Data Science and the correlating models and tools
  • Proficiency in Python, and/or R
  • Experience creating visuals using plotly/ggplot2/matplotlib/seaborn


Required Education/Experience


  • Actively studying or graduated with a Bachelors or Masters Degree program in Statistics, Computer Science, or other data-related field

Working Conditions


This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
