Job Description

  • Screening of the network to identify all the data to be archived (wells logs, well reports)
  • Collaboration with the project team in charge of the migration of the data inventory workflow to the corporate digital inventory database.
  • Preparation of the data for loading in the interpretation software.
  • Searching for different data in corporate databases and archives.
  • Liaison with geoscientists to identify the data to be loaded
  • Review the legacy data in the file cabinet (150 USB drives) to check with the archiving team if data are archived or not
  • Management of data transmittals
  • Manage Seismic/wells data arrival: data reception, data inventory, data shipment process, data cataloging
  • Liaison with IT to manage the data storage and IT resources.
  • Management of data packages identification system (Seislink/Exploration Archives)
  • Management of the file cabinet (storage, data labeling, data organization)
  • Migration of the legacy content to the new system
  • Management of the data shipment to external partners in collaboration with admin
  • Office skills, scripting
  • Validation tests.
  • Data copy into geosciences studies folders
  • Follow-up of the data archiving process liaising with operational team and the company archiving team (definition of the data to be archived, shipment or ftp upload, follow-up of the arching tasks, data cleaning)

Candidate profile

  • Academic focus in Computer science, Library Science, Data Management or Petroleum Engineering
  • Self Starter
  • Ability to jump in, ask questions and work independently.
  • Exceptional Organizational Skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Preferred experience using Python and Linux basics.
  • Recent graduate or first year Masters student.
  • Desk top skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

The Data Management team for Explorations Americas is looking for a full-time intern that will improve archiving and data inventory workflows.
This is a Full-Time Paid Internship. Applicants should be able to work up to 40 hours per week at our downtown Houston, TX office.
