Job Description
WHO YOU ARE: You are an experienced Creative Lead who is passionate about directing the creative vision for barre3. You’ll adhere to our brand’s vision, mission, and values through concepting and developing creative materials in support of the barre3 business overall—across all digital, studio, retail, and product initiatives. In close partnership with the CMO, as well as cross-functional teams, you’ll move the brand forward by owning the creative process and output that will connect and inspire new and existing clients across all consumer touchpoints. You’ll be responsible for the development and execution of best in class creative for a brand that intersects fitness, wellness, and women’s empowerment—as well as coach a team of other creative-minded brand advocates. You’ll have a thorough understanding of design, conceptual thinking, creative problem solving, and have a passion for storytelling. With a pulse on culture, advertising, technology, social media, current design languages, you’ll possess a deep understanding of the barre3 client, class, and community.
This is a high-impact and high-exposure creative role within barre3.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
In partnership with the CMO, the entire Marketing & Creative Team, and working cross-functionally with all teams across barre3, you will support barre3’s strategic marketing and creative efforts in the following ways:
Oversee creative vision for all aspects of the barre3 brand
  • Acts as a Creative Director & Art Director, guiding team towards the best expression of the brand through graphic, photo, video, design, social, copy and voice
  • Be a fierce protector of the barre3 brand internally and externally to ensure every customer touchpoint or interaction with barre3 is both on brand, delivers on our mission, and ladders up to our vision
  • Proactively contribute to the ongoing evolution and innovation of our brand and creative practices, brand positioning and content storytelling and through research, development and implementation of new best practices
  • Drive the brand conversation forward and deliver on company-wide business goals through providing innovative performance-driven creative concepts and solutions
  • Key stakeholder between cross functional business units when executing brand, digital, studio, retail, and product content creation
Drive concepting, while also rolling-up sleeves and executing creative deliverables and assets alongside team
  • Lead the creative team through execution, and collaborate on production for final delivery of assets, including hands-on development of assets when needed, including but not limited to promotional materials, video assets (sight, sound, motion), photography, advertising assets, social materials, and any other related brand materials, etc.
  • Take feedback well, and identify constructive solutions
  • Present and communicate creative ideas and vision to a variety of stakeholders
  • Lead the creative development for multiple channels on a variety of projects and media, ranging from photography, motion, lifestyle, and social content to digital product innovation and retail applications
  • Conceptualize and support the creative vision for all brand photo & video shoots—present visual direction, shot list, casting, on set art direction, selects, and oversight of color and post production
  • Develop concepts and creative ideas that fulfill business objectives
  • Actively contribute to both creative ideation and production of barre3 initiatives
Oversee creative team and develop staff
  • Manage and lead a team of creatives, including: designers, copywriters, social teams, and agencies, photographers, directors, etc. (when applicable) to bring the creative vision to life and ensure holistic creative excellence
  • Create and communicate a clear creative vision and provide ongoing creative direction and inspiration
  • Source and manage external agencies and vendors when needed
  • Support the team to deliver high-quality content to drive business objectives and maintain continuity in all facets of brand experience
  • Review the work of designers, copywriters, social teams, and freelancers as needed, providing appropriate direction and constructive feedback
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Expertise in design for brand, advertising, retail marketing, and a knowledge of best practices with a willingness to stay up-to-date on trends and tools
  • Proficiency in a variety of design tools such as the Adobe Suite, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat
  • Experience in on-set, focused on advertising photography and video assets
  • Must possess an extensive understanding of brand campaigns, photography, illustration, print process
  • Demonstrate a command of creative methods, tools, communication, and presentation skills
  • Understanding of the fitness + lifestyle brand landscape married with a strong curiosity to continue to learn
  • Strong creative portfolio demonstrating creative thinking across multiple outputs (social, retail, digital, etc).
  • An exceptional design sensibility (typography, layout, and prototyping) and strong understanding of creating beautiful visuals with an understanding of business objectives

  • 3-5 years of experience in people management
  • 8-10+ years of progressive creative experience, relevant design and/or copywriting experience, and strategic creative direction at a brand or agency
  • Able to effectively collaborate with other team members, grow and develop staff, and is receptive to feedback
  • Has meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail (self-proofing/editing)
  • Self-motivated, able to prioritize and manage workload and meet critical project deadlines
Requirements
