Description


Theo is a fast-growing performance media agency headquartered in Portland, Oregon. We help local and national brands across a wide range of industries advance their marketing practices through methodical, creative, and technology-driven marketing activations.


The Theo Creative team is a growing team that consists of highly creative, collaborative, and disciplined thinkers. As part of the team, you will bring your creative skills to the table to support ongoing marketing efforts, new creative brand experiences/assets, and optimize existing assets.


In this role, you will be the main creative lead for a client with an integrated media mix ranging from Paid Social, Display, Video, and Print. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to provide creative progress updates, concept new ideas, and assemble creative pieces into a cohesive campaign.


A successful candidate will:


  • Confidently communicate and work as part of a cross-functional team, including writers, media buyers, analysts, other designers, clients, account managers, etc.
  • Have experience in designing integrated digital campaigns while being able to translate these concepts to print collateral.
  • Possess an ability to clearly communicate design concepts and ideas clearly and concisely with team members, clients, and other partners.


Key Responsibilities


Design strategy, concept ideation, and testing


  • Identify ways to test various creative elements such as value propositions, creative styles, Candidates should be knowledgeable about creative testing best practices.
  • Work with the performance marketing, analytics, and account teams to create and manage a creative roadmap.
  • Serve as the primary creative strategist for your dedicated clients.
  • Help visualize concepts with storyboards, mockups, etc
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create concepts informed by existing campaign data or testing plans.
  • Understand creative best practices and trends across channels such as Meta, Display, YouTube, TikTok, etc.
  • Organize upcoming creative/asset needs based on seasonal campaigns, testing ideas or plans to tailor creative to different audiences.


Design process and workflow


  • Organize and maintain a database of image resource files utilizing proper directory structure.
  • Stay on top of design trends and look for best practices within the industry.
  • Incorporate feedback from relevant internal/external stakeholders.
  • Help solidify and refine Theo’s design process, seeking ways to improve feedback collection, briefs, revision process, etc.
  • Retain and utilize learnings from past creative tests, performance, or other internal/client directives.


Design production


  • Produce sketches, storyboards, art layouts, and vision boards based on creative visions and ideas.
  • Maintain visual and brand consistency throughout all client projects.
  • Develop static and video advertising assets to drive client performance across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other digital ad platforms.
  • Work with the Performance Marketing team to version creative concepts to adapt to channel specifications.
  • Assist with copywriting, as needed.
  • Implement quality control measures, ensuring that all creative output meets high standards and aligns with client goals.
  • Prepare art files for production, ensuring accurate color, specs, and copy to create polished and high-quality deliverables.


Client and project management:


  • Act as client-facing point of contact and attend regular weekly client meetings.
  • Provide daily updates to the team regarding the status of active and pending design jobs.
  • Work with the Account team to manage client expectations on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist in estimating the time required to complete projects.


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


  • 2-3 years experience in graphic design.
  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, three years related experience and/or training, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess expert-level knowledge of design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Figma etc.) and other design tools.
  • Experience with working collaboratively across a multi-disciplinary team and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Performance-driven concept ideation; knowledgeable with paid media KPIs and how they can be used to shape future creative/test ideas is a plus.
  • Possess an ability to communicate ideas and design concepts in a clear and concise manner with team members, clients, and other partners.
  • Have an understanding of the production side of design, with a history designing across both digital and print and adjusting designs to fit the unique constraints each ecosystem contains.
  • Experience with motion graphics, video editing, animation is a plus.
