Craft Specialist II
Department of University Housing
The Department of University Housing within the Division of Student Life invites applications for the position of Craft Specialist II.
Our mission is to provide a defining experience for students through programs and amenities that facilitate individual learning and development, connecting you with innovative leadership opportunities and positive learning experiences. The Craft Specialist II works independently and with other team members to carry out the daily maintenance tasks that arise within the residence halls.
The Position: The Craft Specialist II p erforms specialized and highly skilled craft work in cabinetry, carpentry, electrical, estimating, machining, maintenance, and plumbing. Additionally, this position utilizes specifications and manuals to perform listed tasks, checks completed work for adherence to designated specifications, and maintains records and reports on repairs or servicing. The Craft Specialist II position provides technical guidance and direction to designated personnel, assists in estimating amount of material and type equipment and supplies required, and operates equipment required to perform maintenance functions. Performs other related duties as required.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor parts inventory
  • Perform scheduled HVAC system cleaning and filter changes
  • Work with minimal supervision performing daily maintenance tasks
  • Keep accurate repair logs
  • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing and electrical issues
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Perform daily building inspections and mitigate issues found
  • Perform preventive maintenance on multiple types of mechanical and electrical equipment

What We Require
Education: High school degree
Experience: Three (1) year experience in field
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Ability to check completed work for adherence to designated specifications.
  • Skill to operate equipment required to perform maintenance functions.
  • Skill to coordinate work to be performed in construction and renovation of facilities and equipment.
  • Ability to perform other related duties as required
  • Ability to maintain records and reports on repairs or servicing.
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and manuals to perform above tasks.
  • Skill to assist in estimating amount of material and type of equipment and supplies required to complete task.
  • Knowledge to calibrate instruments and equipment to coincide with established standards.
  • Knowledge to provide technical guidance and direction to designated personnel.
  • Skills to perform specialized craft work in cabinetry, carpentry, electrical, estimating, plumbing, refrigeration and air conditioning.
What We Prefer
Education: Completion of an accredited HVAC, plumbing, or electrical program.
Salary : The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and other qualifications and is accompanied by a standard university benefits package. This isfull-time staff position.
