Regional Therapy Services
The Occupational Therapist Assistant is responsible for the treatment of patients under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist in compliance with licensure standards. The Occupational Therapist Assistant works with an interdisciplinary team contributing to patient goal development and identifying barriers to discharge. The assistant provides patient centered care and assists the Occupational Therapist in planning and organizing the plan of care for the patient.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Orients patients, family and/or other appropriate parties to the purpose and procedures of the physical therapy evaluation and treatment. Provides appropriate patient/family education and teaching, under the supervision of a Therapist.
  • Identifies significant changes in patient's condition and takes appropriate actions, as evidenced in reporting, staffing consultations and documentation.
  • Obtains and documents appropriately all required and pertinent patient information, including precautions, orders, and initial plan of care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
  • Coordinates treatment schedules with disciplines using appropriate scheduling procedures.
  • Assists the Occupational Therapist in performing evaluations, assessments and procedures.
Certification:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) | American Heart Association (AHA) | Within 90 days of Start Date | Learning Management System
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant - Certified | North Dakota State Board of Occupational Therapy | Prior to Start Date | HR Primary Sources
  • Driver's License with Acceptable Driving Record | Driver's License - Current State Licensed | Prior to Start Date | HR Primary Sources
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant - Certified | National Board Cert. Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) | Within 6 Months of Start Date | HR Primary Sources
