Do you have a future as a Corrections Officer? Cumberland County will pay you to certify as a corrections officer; no experience is necessary for this exciting opportunity! If you are at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or the equivalent and a valid class C driver's license, we'd love to talk with you about becoming a certified corrections officer in the State of Maine and joining our team at Cumberland County Jail!

• Master CO Stipend of $.50/hour
• If you're a certified corrections officer, lateral credit can be given for up to 10 years of service for pay and vacation time PLUS an additional sign-on bonus of $4,000!
• Longevity Increases IN ADDITION to cost of living increases.
• Starting pay of $23.33/hr to $27.04/hr. (Lots of earning potential with stipends and other incentives!)
• No experience necessary; we will train you to become a corrections officer! (Paid at the regular rate!)
• $4.17/ hour stipend paid for all hours worked over 56.
• Shift differentials of $0.25/hour for 3‐11pm shift and $0.40 for 11pm‐7am shift.
• Education stipend of $0.19/hr. for Associate’s degree and $0.38/hr. for Bachelor’s Degree.

Our Portland, Maine jail provides a healthy, safe, secure, humane, and cost effective place for persons alleged or convicted of crimes. As a corrections officer, you would provide for the care, custody, and control of inmates in their personal quarters and during recreational time.

If you're a good listener, have a calming demeanor, a commitment to the welfare of people with differing backgrounds / behavioral patterns, and the ability to make decisions and act quickly, corrections could be a great match for you.
