Job Description

COORDINATED ENTRY SPECIALIST, HOUSING & HOMELESS COALITION,

UNITED WAY OF CENTRAL NEW YORK

Primary Objective

United Way of Central New York is seeking a Coordinated Entry Specialist to operate Coordinated Entry activities on behalf of the Housing and Homeless Coalition of Central New York (HHC). HHC is a coalition of agencies and stakeholders which acts as the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Continuum of Care (CoC) for Onondaga, Cayuga, and Oswego Counties, dedicated to reducing, preventing, and ultimately ending homelessness in all forms.

Overall Responsibilities

·Facilitate Coordinated Entry and CNY-VI assessment training

·Run and maintain a solid, accurate, and up to date Coordinated Entry prioritization list in Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)

·Conduct the CNY-VI assessment and make referrals to housing and service providers

·Enter and update client level data in HMIS

·Provide technical assistance to any new providers entering into the Coordinated Entry system

·Assist with updating the HHC’s Coordinated Entry Policies and Procedures Manual with input from the Coordinated Entry Committee

·Ensure that CoC and ESG-funded agencies are following the policies and procedures from the manual

·Oversee Case Conferencing and Cross Sector Collaboration

·Provide documentation and client eligibility support to shelters and housing providers

·Review Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) applications and obtain required documentation

·Other duties as assigned

Position Status:Full-time, Non-exempt

Position Qualifications

·Bachelor’s Degree preferred and experience working in housing and homelessness programming

·Experience and demonstrated skills in organization and management of multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.

·Proven ability to work with individuals from all levels and backgrounds; recognizes and values diversity; process information with consideration for cultural sensitivities.

·Proficient with MS Windows Office Suite; must have the ability to learn new and/or customized software.

·Ability to work with flexibility and independence.

·Ability to work overtime if necessary.

·People with lived experience and expertise of homelessness are strongly encouraged to apply

Skills / Capabilities

·Experience and demonstrated skills in organization and management of multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.

·Experience and ability to coordinate meetings, conduct training, and work with coalitions.

·Proven ability to work with individuals from all levels and backgrounds; recognizes and values diversity; process information with consideration for cultural sensitivities.

·Proficient with MS Windows Office Suite; must have the ability to learn new and/or customized software.

·Ability to work with flexibility and independence.

·Excellent verbal interpersonal skills for telephone and in-person communication.

·Strong oral and written English language skills for effective communication using excellent spelling, grammar, and writing skills. Must be able to carefully proof own work.

·Ability to work overtime if necessary.
