Job Description

Arise Homes, A faith-led real estate development company based in Overland Park is hiring a new Accounting Manager/Controller for our growing firm.


The selected candidate will oversee daily accounting operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. You will develop and implement financial policies and processes that are tailored to Arise Homes’ needs and goals and help guide the company's strategic financial decisions.


Prior Experience working closely with lenders, managing banking relationships, and modeling/forecasting finances are critical to the role.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee relationships with external tax firms and coordination of tax planning.
  • Oversee and implement risk management solutions including as insurance, safety, and security policies, business continuity plans, or recovery measures.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and reporting systems, as needed.
  • Preparation and analysis of internal and external financial statements of multiple business entities.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources on payroll and benefits administration functions.
  • Assist with managing banking relationships by providing updated financial reports and oversight of all loan processes including draws, home closings, multi-family rental units, etc.
  • Maintain accounting internal controls, policies, and processes to ensure adherence to national and local legal standards, GAAP principles, and tax compliance.
  • Manage company-wide budgets, proformas, and cash flow projections with analysis, as well as development and construction project budgets and cash flows.
  • Provide management with information vital to decision-making processes.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE EXPECTATIONS:

  • Be open and prepared to grow professionally within the team as well as the overall company.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, with the ability to work either independently or collaboratively
  • Expert knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations, and best practices
  • Proficient with data analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving
  • 5 years+ experience in Accounting
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build trust
  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor.
  • CPA preferred, but not required
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with a major in Accounting
  • Quickbooks and Netsuite Experience is a plus. We will be migrating from Quickbooks to Netsuite in the future
  • Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Highly organized with keen attention to detail


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift 30-50 pounds.
  • Work in temperature controlled environment.

  • Requires physical ability for standing, sitting, crouching, kneeling, frequent walking, and reaching above the head and below the waist.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

The Accounting Manager reports to the Company CEO

This is a full-time position. 40 hours per week between the hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with limited work-from-home opportunities.
