About The Role

This role is a dynamic blend of typical day to day accounting functions as well as strategic initiatives. As Controller, you will manage the Accounting function at Torus and report to the CFO. You will support standard accounting responsibilities as well as strategic initiatives such as modeling subscription revenue, implementing revenue recognition best practices and developing variable comp plans. You will also provide career mentorship to your team.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile and support each balance sheet account or sub ledger on a monthly basis.
• Develop and maintain internal controls safeguards.
• Manage and oversee the Staff Accountant who assists in processing accounts payable (and accounts receivable when applicable) and communicating timely payment to vendors.
• Implement revenue recognition procedures (SaaS & hard goods) and other GAAP requirements (e.g., software capitalization).
• Manage and monitor all accounts, general ledger and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate and manage all external audits (e.g., financial and governmental).
• Answer questions from department owners regarding expenses.
• Prepare monthly financial statements according to GAAP and provide financial updates to senior management by analyzing and reporting financial data.

Experience You’ll Need

• 5 years of experience as a Controller or Senior Accountant is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or a related field is required.
• Must have experience and proficiency with ASC 606 compliance and SaaS revenue recognition principles.
• Advanced computer skills, specifically in Excel.

Experience That’ll Set You Apart

• Experience using NetSuite.
• All candidates are subject to a background check.
• CPA preferred.
• Work experience in a public accounting firm is a plus.
• Manufacturing experience is a plus.
