Job Description

Our Recruiting Practice is partnering with a manufacturing company in the Southampton area in hiring a Controller, who will be responsible for overseeing the Company’s financial reporting and controls. The Controller will provide financial direction to the company and make recommendations to improve financial and operational procedures. The Controller will be in the office 5 days a week and is a perfect role for an accounting professional looking to grow their career!


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, analyze, and interpret statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget of the segment.
  • Analyze financial and operational information to determine the most efficient use of resources and capital. Provide strategic recommendations and solutions to the senior management team.
  • Oversee the quarterly physical inventory count and establish financial standards for the upcoming quarter.
  • Implement KPI’s and metrics to ensure working capital is managed prudently.
  • Review monthly reconciliations and journal entries to assure accurate financial information is generated and proper internal controls are in place.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial performance statements.
  • Evaluate and approve plant capital requests prior to management approval.
  • Direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institute and maintain other planning and control procedures including cost accounting system.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Master’s degree in Accounting, MBA, or CMA is preferred.
  • Minimum of eight years Accounting experience and solid knowledge of GAAP reporting requirements is required.
  • Prior experience with ERP environments and planning with database tools is required.
  • Experience with Inventory Accounting including calculating and updating Costs of Goods Sold is strongly preferred.
