Job Description

DavidWayneAssociates is a specialized accounting/finance search firm. We have been retained by a commercial Construction Company to identify a Controller. This position will report directly to the CFO.


Controller Position Summary: The Controller will be part of the Executive Team. This role serves as a leader in Financial aspects of the company and communicates directly with company leadership and stakeholders. The qualified candidate will supervise the day to day activities in the accounting department, insures that sound and reliable accounting practices are adhered to and is responsible for preparing and distributing timely and accurate financial information to the management team.


Controller Position Requirements/Responsibilities:

  • Controls all capital assets.
  • Revises budgets and forecasts to insure the best possible information for decision making.
  • Looks for better ways to service the financial area in planning for future needs (i.e. the computer, revised systems, relations between finance and various other corporate functions).
  • Monitors relations, credit research, collection problems, negotiations, etc.
  • Insures that Accounts Receivable/AIA Billing/Collections, Accounts Payable/ Invoicing/Aging/Payments, Payroll/Taxes/Filings are current and accurately compiled.
  • Performs the accounting for corporate investments and affiliated business entities.
  • Maintains corporate records, leases, contracts, etc.
  • Prepares and distributes monthly financial information to management. Provide quarterly reports to bank and bonding company. Provide financial information for annual company financials P&L, Balance Sheet to CPA for review. Prepare Work in Progress Schedule (WIP) and Completed Contract Schedule CCP).
  • Balances all company bank accounts.

· Insurance policy renewal and rates for costing.

· Oversee administration of medical benefits, workman’s compensation, payroll, new employee, employee termination, and other human resources matters.


Controller Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree Accounting or Finance

· Must be a top performer with a minimum 5-7 years of experience.

· Must have strong interpersonal skills to foster optimal relationships (Excellent communication skills, both written and oral).

· Strong problem solving skills, and detail oriented.

· High level of energy and desire to grow in an entrepreneurial environment
