Job Description

The Continuous Improvement Specialist will report directly to the WMS Leader and is responsible for leading the lean transformation of their respective location(s) of responsibility. The role will provide leadership and direction to improve operational performance (value stream speed, delivery, quality, and productivity) utilizing lean methodologies, during a time of significant growth. This role partners with site leadership and provides enhanced knowledge of the tools and techniques within the Wabash Management System (WMS), as well as other lean and continuous improvement methodologies. As growth continuous, the Lean Transformation Coach will have multi-site responsibilities within the United States. This position will be a hybrid role.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Transformation to include lean leadership and change management across business (Coaching Up (Leadership), Lateral (Administrative / Supervisory), and Work Teams (Production / Transactional))
  • Analyzes program progress, utilizing problem solving, surveys, and assessments to understand areas for continuous improvement of WMS Programs
  • Coach, train and mentor site on the fundamentals and principles of a lean enterprise and lean leadership behaviors (Hoshin Kanri, TWI, Problem Solving, Daily Management, etc…)
  • Evaluates effectiveness of training and assures appropriate revisions are made, ensuring processes support corporate policy in areas of health, safety, and environmental assurance
  • Periodically reports team performance, implementation schedules, performance to measures, and assessments of WMS or Continuous Improvement Process to Senior Leadership Team
  • Create the lean site vision and implement a strategy to improve the customer experience through improvements in cycle time, delivery, and ensure all other customer critical to quality area are at the forefront of the strategy.
  • Works across Wabash enterprise, including all functions and discipline of office and operations, to support lean improvement efforts (i.e. facilitate implementation of WMS, identify flow opportunities, identify sequence of events, and define constraints or continuous improvement opportunities)
  • Maintains up-to-date, state-of-the-art knowledge of WMS and Enterprise Lean techniques and shares information with other team members
  • Coordinates multiple continuous improvement projects concurrently in cooperation with internal customers

  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects ensuring buy-in from key stakeholders in a matrix environment at all levels.
  • Lives the lean principles with track record of creating and inspiring lean disciples of the Toyota Production System.
  • Capacity to perform in a constantly changing high pressure environment

  • Ability to motivate and coach teams to drive results

  • Desired experience with advanced Lean tools (3P, Agile / SCRUM, SDR, PAAG, TWI,)

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining accuracy
  • Bachelor’s degree (Desired Majors: Engineering or Technology (industrial or mechanical), Business, Supply Chain, Organizational Leadership & Supervision)
  • Experience constructing Value Stream Maps (current and future states), identifying improvements and leading cross-functional teams in developing line improvements
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels within the organization, as well as external vendors
  • Three to five years of continuous improvement experience, with demonstrated deployment of lean concepts that drive improvements
  • Ability to motivate and coach teams to drive results
  • Ability to problem solve using known processes (PDCA, DMAIC, etc.) to deliver results
