Plymouth Tube is looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious team member to join our Continuous Improvement team. This person must embrace change, be self-motivated, and inspire others inside and outside the department. The individual should be able to communicate directly and openly with all levels in our organization. There will be many opportunities for the successful candidate to engage their innovative and creative problem-solving skills to help move the department to the next level. It is a must that the Continuous Improvement Manager has a high degree of personal integrity in dealing with customers, superiors, subordinates, and co-workers and will represent Plymouth Tube Company in a professional manner. The successful candidate will live both in the big picture as well as in the details, desire to make an impact, and work well in a team and individually.


ABOUT THE JOB:

As the Continuous Improvement Manager, you’ll drive sustainable Lean/Continuous improvements within Plymouth Tube facility, delivering breakthrough results in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC), while building cultural change throughout the organization. You’ll also work closely with plant leadership and department employees to achieve results. This position requires strong technical Lean/Six Sigma Manufacturing and hands-on leadership skills, along with a passion for operations excellence, to be successful. The CI Manager should possess extensive technical skills and hands-on experience in continuous improvement manufacturing activities. A strong application knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing techniques and related CI tools are required: Root Cause Analysis, Kaizen Blitz, Value Stream Mapping, OEE, First Hour Full Power, 5/50, Labor Analysis, 5S, 7 Wastes, Pit Stop Changeovers, etc. This person should be recognized as a change agent, challenging the status quo to drive to operations excellence.


The CI Manager also needs to possess leadership skills to drive the overall CI process across the facility, without having direct reporting relationships at the plant. He/she will work closely with the CI Director but must also be able to leverage his/her power of influence with the Plant Managers and their Teams.


The successful candidate should have strong practical Lean Manufacturing experience.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Develop tracking tools and measures to support CI initiatives.
  • Provide and teach CI tools to the team members.
  • Participate in safety related activities as requested or relied upon.
  • Train, coach, and mentor local Mill team, at all levels, on Lean/Six Sigma principles to create competence deep and wide to drive the culture of continuous improvement. This is a hands-on role.
  • Better leverage resources and share best practices across all facilities.
  • Coach and mentor / facilitate local teams in Problem Solving using the tenets of the Lean/Six Sigma System.
  • Leading and facilitating Kaizen events to drive sustainable improvements.
  • Benchmark performance across the Mill and industry to identify areas of opportunity.
  • Develops business case justification for projects and initiatives.
  • Support an operating culture that promotes involvement, communication, mutual trust & respect, expectations and accountability and a passion for excellence.
  • Track and analyze the CI process and manufacturing matrices.
  • Own and role model Plymouth Tube values and behaviors to develop and transform the Company culture. Ensure that these values and behaviors are a part of everyday life at Plymouth Tube.
  • Establish and drive productivity pipeline roadmaps across departments and the location.
  • Lead, participate, and facilitate formal rapid improvement events to drive LEAN/Six Sigma principles, leading to improved safety, quality, delivery, cost, and revenue growth.
  • Challenge the status quo to find ways to optimize manufacturing performance to deliver superior results.
  • Support improvement activities that are consistent with the needs of the Lean/Six Sigma Business System. Provide coordination and communication for change initiatives.
  • Build an employee engaged work environment.
  • Develop and execute improvement action plans.
  • Work closely with Mill teams to:
  • Build a CI culture across the organization.
  • Lead and execute Lean/Six Sigma System transformation improvement initiatives, including annual plans and improved process methods and practices to improve operating performance.


WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

· Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university is preferred but not required, preferably in Engineering, Math, Science, Business, or Operations.

· Five (5) or more years in a manufacturing environment.

· Must demonstrate the ability to get things done through others.

· Must be self-motivated, have a high sense of urgency, be able to solve complex situations, and be resourceful.

· Three (3) to five (5) years of CI experience in a Continuous Improvement Department as a Manager preferred.
