Salary: $55k+ or $25 or more per hour

Continuous Improvement Coordinator
JOB TITLE: Continuous Improvement Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Senior Continuous Improvement Specialist
JOB SUMMARY: Continuous Improvement Coordinator
Develops, implements, and manages lean manufacturing processes such as, but not limited to: Kanban, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen events, 5S, Mafact, and Employee Suggestion Program. Assists the Senior CI Specialist in assessing and eliminating waste and non-value add activities. Performs all other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leads long-term projects aimed at waste elimination/production efficiencies and establishment of Lean Manufacturing areas in conjunction with manufacturing sites. Subject matter may include plant floor layout, material-handling routes, service parts, and key future launches.
  • Develops and manages cross-functional teams to meet project objectives. Monitors productivity of groups and individuals, recommends changes where desirable. Provides leadership and support to team.
  • Supports the Senior Continuous Improvement Specialist with the Mafact audit by working on projects that provide the evidence needed to improve the Mafact score.
  • Assists in development and implementation of quality procedures, work instructions and standards. Understands Magna Mirrors Holland’s quality policy and assures compliance with ISO/IATF systems.
  • Facilitates continuous improvement project teams to continuously improve processes and give support to areas within the organization. Based upon management requests, leads employees through workshops designed to improve work processes to reduce cycle time, inventory, labor hours, scrap, etc.
  • Works with Management teams to identify and establish project selection criteria with an emphasis on overall process and quality improvement.
  • Creates and/or facilitates process design changes by integrating new systems and/or processes with existing ones. Provides guidance to Group Leaders/ Engineers and other project staff as needed to develop a team-based organization focused on project goals and objectives.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Possess a detailed understanding of customer requirements. Understand basic business skills and practices. Knowledge/fluency in industry quality management tools.
  • Process/product knowledge, basic statistical knowledge, and organization knowledge. Strong communication and team leadership skills with demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings. Proven success in problem analysis and problem solving. Project management skills to lead a team to complete a project.
  • Ability to work on all shifts as needed.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, CAD/Brics CAD (willing to learn), and other software packages related to the development of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Methodologies.
  • Minimum one year experience in Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement.
  • Willing to complete Six Sigma Green Belt and Lean Principles courses (within the first year if not already certified).
ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all work in compliance with Safety and Environmental policies and procedures as well as all Federal, State and local laws. Understand the importance of conformance with all safety and environmental procedures of the environmental and safety management systems, including emergency response.
  • Use required personal protective equipment or devices where required.
  • Never operate a machine or equipment until trained in the operating procedures, hazards, and safeguards and has been assigned to do so by the employer.
  • Attend Environmental, Health and Safety training as required.
  • Report any unsafe condition or action to his or her supervisor.
  • Understand your responsibility to the environmental programs, including ISO14001. Understand the actual or potential environmental consequences, when deviating from specified work instructions.
  • Never remove, displace, destroy, or carry off any safeguard or interfere with the use by any other person.
  • Report any work-related injury to his or her supervisor within 8 hours.
