Job Description
The Position


The Content Creator writes, edits, and publishes end-user and service documentation, including operator manuals (user guides), online help (user assistance), service documentation, etc. for Roche products. Completes existing and creates new content. Assists in the planning and completion of creating documentation and writing processes. Assists in the coordination and maintenance of corporate standards as they pertain to documentation.


DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:


The Content Creator is first in the series of three jobs. The employee has some experience performing the essential functions of the role and works on assigned projects under general direction from the reporting manager and/or designated senior member of the team.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • May assist the Language sub-chapter with translation management tasks: manages translation activities with external agencies and coordinates the translation review process with affiliates
  • Uses knowledge and expertise to proactively contribute to regular updates of documentation tools, processes, and standards, in collaboration with other documentation departments and relevant stakeholders
  • Checks documents or topics written by other technical writers, ensuring that terminology and documentation guidelines have been followed. Provides feedback to the author regarding the changes needed
  • Independently gathers and consolidates the information needed for the technical content creation. Creates content. Works closely with the content manager, project manager, project teams, manufacturer, and subject matter experts in development teams and within GCS (both locally and globally)
  • In collaboration with the User Experience department and the Terminologist assigned to the project, creates English user interface text, and reviews them for translatability, terminological correctness, and adherence to style guidelines
  • May be responsible for content management tasks
  • Manages CAPA-related updates and documents corrective measures in the CAPA tool
  • Actively contributes to the risk assessment process for assigned products, ensuring that all relevant product risks and their mitigations are described in the documentation
  • May act as a terminologist. Creates and manages English terminology for assigned products and ensures the entry of approved terms and definitions in the Roche terminology database (DIAlex). Provides product terminology to stakeholders
  • Contributes to the continuous growth of product terminology in close collaboration with the terminologist assigned to the product
  • Ensures that quality targets, timelines, and regulatory requirements are respected
  • May assist the Content Manager to organize the review of the deliverables produced; documents and implements their input
  • After translation, creates target language versions of deliverables (PDF and electronic).
  • Collects input for documentation updates and produces these updates in close coordination with the content manager, subject matter experts and project teams
  • Independently creates and modifies multi-media content as required (e.g. photographs, screenshots, videos, 3D graphics, diagrams) using appropriate software tools, or triggers the creation and integrates them into deliverables while adhering to established guidelines.
  • Writes and updates customer-facing and service content in English for Roche instruments and software, while respecting project timelines and documentation standards, guidelines, and templates


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Excellent technical writing skills and knowledge of desktop publishing applications, such as Adobe FrameMaker
  • Ability to take high degree of initiative and demonstrates motivation to work independently and be a self-starter
  • Demonstrable record of working on project teams while working on multiple projects
  • Experience with creating user documentation or online help
  • Ability to work with cross-departmental teams
  • Knowledge of current US and International regulations as it pertains to documentation (e.g., FDA, ISO, IVDD and 21 CFR Part - 11), and control of electronic records preferred
  • Knowledge of technical publications activities and requirements, change control and configuration management
  • Associates Degree or technical writing certificate in a scientific discipline, business administration, technical writing, or other related technical field AND
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience OR
  • Any equivalent relevant mix of education and work experience is required
  • Experience with graphics and using graphic design applications a plus
  • Excellent skills in communication, negotiation, motivation and persuasion required
