Opportunity
This position plays a leadership role for Consumer Insights across the entire organization with a core responsibility / specialty of understanding consumers, customers, culture and brands. Special focus is given to brand tracking and consumer and trade insight specific to core strategic topics that will impact our businesses.
This position helps drive business results by delivering actionable insights that can inform brand strategy, brand and product portfolio management and integrated marketing planning, through a constant focus on consumers, trade customers and broader culture. The Associate Consumer Insights Manager provides thought leadership, both internally and externally.
Specific Responsibilities
Develop and Manage Research Best Practices.
  • Identify appropriate methodologies and partners for project goals.
  • Conduct projects in ways that they can be compared to projects done elsewhere within the organization, as appropriate.
  • Use the analysis of research findings to provide actionable, unbiased recommendations on how to move the business forward.
  • Stay proactively up-to-date on best practices so that we may work on the leading edge of understanding.
  • Influence supplier selection and ensure best practices are followed.
  • Ensure the right questions are asked – and has ability to articulate – to address important business issues.
  • Think about research as a strategic asset – proactively suggest ways to evolve and improve study objectives to provide greatest return.
  • Manage costs and procurement processes to maximize return on our Insights investments.
  • Articulate and apply best practices and fact-based research consistently to support decision-making throughout the company.
Enable a deep understanding of Consumer perceptions.
With a focus on brand and competitive tracking.
  • Take responsibility for in-depth analysis of established tracking studies (Brand Power, State Of The Consumer, KOHLER Buyer) to identify category- and segment-specific opportunities.
  • In collaboration with business unit marketing teams, leads overall efforts to identify and prioritize unanswered questions and unproven hypotheses about the businesses’ customers and consumer shoppers.
  • Assist in the creation of “learning agendas.” Recommend the appropriate market research studies, syndicated data, memberships and other tools that will fill key knowledge gaps.
  • Builds advocacy for sustained organizational investment in consumer and trade customer understanding.
Enable a deep understanding of Human behavior.
With a focus on how consumers, Kohler buyers and core trade audiences think about and act towards a core set of strategic topics.
  • Ensure increased understanding of the similarities and differences between consumer segments over time and across regions.
  • Challenge internal teams to be relentlessly focused on the needs of the end customer and drive toward fact-based decision making.
Use strong communication skills as foundation for thought leadership.
With a focus on creating a culture of Insights, where our understanding of people helps to meet and exceed consumer expectations, resulting in delight.
  • Bring a spirit of collaboration and service to the role.
  • Constantly be developing and improving ways of communicating – from written to video to live presentations.
  • Connect insights – within and across studies – to develop actionable implications.
  • Ensure the objective, unbiased view of the consumer is made clear in reporting.
  • Earn a seat at the table as a key player in the strategic planning and other business planning processes.
  • Earn role as advisor on projects where research findings and facts can assist in understanding.
Skills/Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to instill genuine respect for and curiosity about customers and end users within an organization.
  • Ability to run a workshop based on findings a plus.
  • Excellence in providing clear findings and implications required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a customer insights/market research/strategy or similar consulting role with progressively more responsibility and a track record of results.
  • Budgeting experience required.
  • GDPR, Supplier-side research, global research, or managing supplier-side partnership experience a plus.
  • Expertise in a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods and ability to apply them appropriately to business issues.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Economics or related field, ideally with a market research or research methodology concentration.
  • Experience tailoring research findings to different audiences and proactively communicating to all levels of stakeholders: executive leadership, cross- functional team members, agency and retail partners, etc.

The salary range for this position is $81,050 - $102,400. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
