Job Description
Memorial Blood Centers (MBC.ORG), a division of Innovative Blood Resources (www.innovativebloodresources.org), has been saving and sustaining lives since 1948. We supply blood and blood components, state-of-the-art laboratory services, and biomedical expertise to area healthcare partners, national blood centers, biotechnology companies, research institutions, and international clients. Operating 10 donor centers and conducting hundreds of blood drives each month, we are proud to be an independent nonprofit that supplies over 30 area hospitals and more than a dozen air ambulances with life-saving blood—from our community, for our community.


Summary


Performs daily functions in Hospital Services Department, ordering, consigning, and shipping of components. Responsible for timely delivery and pick-up of blood components to/from our hospital customers and the Donor Collections Van/mobile/Centers


Performs some routine component production procedures. This includes processing Whole Blood, Red Blood Cells (RBCs) and Plasma products. Accurately and concurrently records manufacturing documentation per Standard Operating Procedures. Performs final labeling of all blood components after lot release. Performs daily maintenance and quality control of lab equipment.

Schedule 3rd shift OVERNIGHTS Sunday - Wednesday nights Typically 845pm - 715am.


(The successful candidate may work 600pm – 430am every other Wednesday and is also expected to be able to work five (5) eight (8) hours shifts when needed to help cover other overnight positions. This schedule is subject to change.)


Job Responsibilities


  • Labeling routine blood products (i.e., RBCs, plasma, platelets)
  • May process Whole Blood, Plasma and RBCs and perform maintenance on equipment as needed
  • Monitor systems as applicable (shipment, storage equipment, supply storage)
  • Driving tasks
  • Receiving all blood collections in Component Lab
  • Packing donor testing samples for shipment
  • Receive incoming blood orders
  • Pack and consign blood orders
