Director of Risk and Compliance


Founded and led by billion-dollar investment and operations company Founder and Executive Chairman, Peter Rex, ResProp (part of the Rex family of companies) is looking for a dynamic individual to oversee our businesses risk management and compliance across 4K+ units under management across 8 different markets in multiple states. ResProp is revolutionizing the real estate industry with the combination of elite talent, operational excellence and cutting edge technology solutions.


Based out of our HQ in Austin, TX, the Risk Compliance Manager will be working in a non-conventional, high-intensity, high-optionality, high-reward environment. The ideal candidate for this role must have a passion for risk management and compliance, has a desire to build and grow our business, and can work extensively with external counsel and our internal teams to maximize our growth and success.

  • Collaborate with Learning & Development, Marketing, IT, Procurement, and other departments to evaluate and address legal and risk exposure related to property management business operations.
  • Oversee and advise on contract databases and review of operational contracts and service agreements
  • Position the team for explosive growth in the Florida and Texas markets from a risk management standpoint
  • Evaluate and oversee all existing processes surrounding risk management, compliance, insurance, and contract management
  • Review and manage all offer comments on contracts/agreements
  • Lead and manage outside counsel on matters related to: litigation, employment law, and other corporate legal matters.
  • Ensure effective risk assessment and legal compliance to property management operations by ways of investigation and providing recommendations on necessary modifications.
  • Finalize all lines of insurance and maintain insurance records and relationships for each property
  • Perform deep research on future threats facing the company
  • Develop collaborative relationships with local counsel, apartment associations and professional organizations that can better the ResProp business model
  • Oversee property and general liability claims
  • Lead the compliance and ensure understanding of fair housing and disparate impact across all departments
  • Evaluate existing relationships with vendors / programs / etc to better determine how to further technologize and catalyze our team in the future


The Ideal Candidate Has


  • Extreme character, talent, drive, and teaming ability
  • Experience with multifamily property management industry law, preferably with an eye toward technology integrations
  • Willingness to work across a multitude of teams and projects
  • Paralegal experience preferred, and has 3-5 years of experience in risk management
  • Deep background of forward thinking research with evidence of mitigating and optimizing risk
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple legal support functions
