BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

This position coordinates communications activities for internal and external audiences for MU Health Care (MUHC) and the University Of Missouri School of Medicine (SOM). This position plays a key role in ensuring MU Health, as a collective enterprise, is positively promoted through various communication platforms. Primary responsibilities include gathering content and advising system leadership, SOM leadership and service line representatives on selection and creative design of strategic messaging to achieve goals in growth, engagement, diversity and other enterprise goals.

Goals are achieved through strategic selection of topics for stories published in print, online, on video and on social media platforms. Employees will write materials for multiple communications platforms and assist with design and photo and video selection for published products.

Employee supports executive leadership for MUHC and SOM by assisting in development and design of PowerPoint and similar presentations to communicate strategic system goals, and writing talking points and speeches for leadership for special events.

Employee coordinates with service line and executive leaders the execution of plans for special events, ribbon cuttings and news conferences promoting major MUHC and SOM initiatives, including building projects and program expansions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Serve as writer and editor of content for MUHC and SOM websites, publications, social media sites, magazines and other communications. Ensure consistent editorial and communication standard/guidelines are followed for all communications products and distributed within MU Campus and MUHC.

Collect data on performance metrics related to material that have been published on various platforms.

Write remarks/speaking points for executive leadership at MUHC and SOM used to communicate with both internal and external audiences. Coordinate with SOM researchers, develop strategic plans and develop materials to promote research activities to the media, and to internal and external constituencies.

Maintain and enhance reputation of MUHC/SOM with employees and the general public.

Develop and implement projects within budget, and make appropriate budget recommendations.


Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or a related field.
