You can be based anywhere in the US as long as you have a strong internet connection. This is a fully remote position and while we have in person meetings a few times a year, we plan to keep this position remote. You'll be working with a strong team of commercial real estate experts and data scientists who stay in touch via slack chats, group and company meetings. We are looking for the right candidate to start immediately.
The Commercial Real Estate Finance Associate will assist the PLUM production team with structuring and closing debt and equity transactions commercial real estate owners for all property types. The individual should be a self-starter with a thirst for learning, be highly organized, be a creative-thinker/problem-solver, be able to consistently meet deadlines, enjoy working collaboratively, and have tremendous pride in work product.
Responsibilities
  • Further underwriting data integrity and collection
  • Create and edit financial models that allow for the valuation of commercial real estate assets and sizing of real estate loans
  • Prepare investment committee presentations
  • Maintain a current and comprehensive understanding of the lending programs offered by the company and available in the marketplace
  • Continuously provide constructive feedback to identify improvements to processes where possible
  • Interact with third party consultants including loan servicers, real estate brokers and sales agents, and construction consultants
  • Conduct property site inspections and market research
  • Provide the initial loan sizing analysis of loan requests in a comprehensive MS Excel model ensuring that deal items are addressed and summarized for review by PLUM production team
  • Work with the marketing department to produce material that furthers the PLUM brand
  • Maintain loan files in an organized fashion with an audit trail
  • Become an integral component of the loan closing and funding process
  • Participate on sponsor calls with Plum production team throughout the sizing and closing process
  • Continuously seek independent training and continuously improve market individual market knowledge and understanding of the underwriting and origination processes
  • Underwrite and perform credit analysis on loan collateral across all property types
  • Track issuer and industry trends as well as macroeconomic performance drivers which could impact CRE underwriting

Qualifications
4-Year Bachelors Degree in major course work with a preference in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, or Economics
Minimum requirement of 2 years in underwriting commercial real estate loans including loans funded by Fannie Mae, HUD, and Freddie Mac
Demonstrated background of operating in a high-paced and dynamic environment
Ability to read and interpret financial information including property operating statements for a variety of property types
Ability to recognize strengths/weaknesses in loans
Highly organized, especially with tasks and priorities.
Decision making: Ability to objectively analyze situations and draw accurate conclusions based on logic and facts
Performance management: Ability to work with employees to establish and achieve clear, measurable performance goals linked to organizational goals
Working collaboratively: Ability to seek input from others, facilitate group problem-solving, cooperate and work effectively with others to achieve goals
MS Office, Argus, and ability to learn and integrate newer technology and software is required
