WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):
The Collections Manager is responsible for the processes and results of the collection of Training Services delinquent accounts within the Revenue Division. The Collections Manager will lead and monitor the policies, procedures and financial systems for reporting financial activities related to Training Services collections. Prepare and distribute weekly, monthly and ad hoc collection reports to management and specific accounts. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all staff and/or volunteers. Responsible for adherence to and communication of the American Red Cross Financial Management of Policy and Procedure (FMPP) and division goals and objectives.

Provide direction to collection staff to ensure timely receipt of all outstanding receivables while maintaining a professional and courteous customer relationship. Resolve problems and inquiries from internal and external customers concerning credit and collections.

Develop strategies to diagnose problems; corrective planning and execution to improve collection results based on goals and objectives.

Compiles and analyzes financial information in establishing lines of credit on customer accounts. Oversight of customer accounts related to legal proceedings and bankruptcy filings. Assist management to ensure proper negotiations leading to customer financial condition recommendations. Review high risk customer accounts to ensure appropriate communications and efforts have been taken leading to proper course of business action, including security arrangements, legal process or write-off.
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD (Key Responsibilities):
  • Coordinate the development, implementation and maintenance of procedures for reporting of financial activities related to collections. Responsible for the development, distribution and communication of collection reports.
  • Manage the activities and results of the Training Services collections team. Develop reporting tools and track staff work activity through performance metrics to reach and exceed established goals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Initiate and manages division projects to completion. Identifies opportunities for process improvement, better controls and/or gain efficiencies. Implements division goals and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for and implement collaborative relationship building with internal and external customers to ensure adequate information flow. Resolve disputes and problems; escalate where appropriate.
  • Manage bankruptcy procedures and filings with Sales, Management and Legal. Determine and negotiate options to protect against the risk of financial loss. Audit delinquent accounts considered being uncollectible to ensure appropriate communications and efforts have been taken before recommending payment arrangements, credit changes, outside/legal process or write-off.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of accounting and/or financial reporting experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Thorough knowledge of GAAP required.
  • Management Experience: 3 years of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or related field required. CPA may be preferred.
  • Travel: May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state, and Red Cross system.
  • Skills & Abilities: Ability to develop project plans and reports. Demonstrated proficiency in collaboration, facilitation, planning, problem solving, leadership. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Proficiency in use of Personal Computer, word-processing, spreadsheet applications, and database applications when applicable. Ability to work on a team.
  • Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

The salary range for this position is: $70,000 - $85,000
