Cloud Devops Engineer/It Support

Haystax is looking for a flexible, creative, and experienced Cloud DevOps Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for automating everything, identifying opportunities for optimization/stability, and exploring new ideas to better our services and products. The candidate should be experienced with AWS cloud technologies and have experience managing a cloud hosted SaaS solution on AWS. The position requires experience with CI/CD workflows, scripted automation, metric gathering and analysis. The candidate should be able to establish and enforce strong security practices and have a willingness to learn and provide feedback on upcoming technologies.

The cloud solution that the candidate will manage is our web-based offering, which uses modern components and a micro-service architecture. The front-end servers run a Python framework, with client-side rendering in AngualrJS (but being ported to React). We have a distributed, horizontally scaled back-end, also written in Python, with message brokering via AMQP. All the applications services run in a Linux container environment, with orchestration via Docker Swarm and/or Kubernetes. We use MongoDB as our data-store.

This person will also manage and support the IT infrastructure, assets and cloud-based applications used by the Haystax team. This includes support for onboarding new employees and managing SSO access changes.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting and resolving SaaS application access issues for Haystax end users
• Research and remediate security concerns within all cloud platforms
• Communicating ideas for improving company processes with a positive and constructive attitude
• Creation and maintain automation (tooling/scripting) to assist in the deployment and ongoing support of Haystax cloud-managed infrastructure
• Run, maintain, and improve the Haystax managed AWS and Atlas MongoDB cloud environments
• Document and standardize engineering procedures
• Ensure smooth operation of Gitlab CI/CD pipelines and make improvements as needed
• Troubleshoot and remediate any system/automation issues
• Setting up and maintaining monitoring systems and alarms for production environments to achieve optimum performance
• Build and move current infrastructure to Kubernetes
• Architecting and Engineering of IT-based solutions to support and optimize business goals
• Working directly with the Security Team on security-related projects, initiatives, maintenance, and monitoring
• Providing recommendations for new or updates to policies and procedures related to technology & services

• Experience with design, implementation, and management of multiple environments with components across all 7 OSI layers
• Experience managing and supporting Mac-based assets
• Experience administering SSO providers and SaaS applications
• US Work authorization without sponsorship is required
• Containerization and orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes) experience
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, LAN/WAN, switching, firewall rules and configuration, VPN, and other networking technologies
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, relevant field, or equivalent professional experience
• AWS DevOps Engineer Professional certification or higher
